Product Development Scientist Job – Scotland

Our client is a diagnostics and manufacturing company based in Northern Scotland. They require a product development specialist with protein stabilisation experience to join their team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

A Product Development Scientist, you will provide expertise in the development of diagnostic technologies for cardiac tests, to contribute practically; with a hands-on approach, to the optimisation of assay formats and stabilisation of dried enzymatic based assay architecture to GMP/GLP standards.

You will work in a team to develop a stable reagent formulation to 12 months refrigerated stability, optimise assays to improve clinical performance of products and design in product and process robustness, and demonstrate this through (DoE). You will also develop products to design control while adhering to regulatory bodies. You must be able to ensure ELN records are accurate and present data in meetings to peers and be confident communicating to superior managers. Your role will also involve developing project management and planning skills to belay technicians where necessary.

Requirements:

You must be actively involved in the design and optimisation of immunoassays to improve room temperature stability and reduce (ATE) to an acceptable level. You must also be educated to degree level in an appropriate scientific discipline or possess equivalent commercial experience, and have excellent knowledge and understanding of protein biochemistry and the ability to apply analytical measurements in the IVD industry.Experience in working GMP/GLP standards are essential.

Our client is a global leader in the health, personal and household sectors. They are currently looking to recruit a Development Chemist to work at their site in Hull on a permanent basis.

This Development Chemist role will involve being responsible for carrying out product development activities on projects in one or more platforms of the Aircare R&D Portfolio. You will actively contribute towards the development of consumer preferred products from concept to production and launch.

The ideal candidate for this Development Chemist role will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a scientific discipline and have experience within a product development role within an FMCG environment. Knowledge and experience of relevant Aircare technologies is an advantage but not essential.

Formulations Scientist – Pharmaceuticals – based in North East, UK

Our client, a manufacturer of a wide range of pharmaceutical and healthcare products based in the North East of England, is currently looking for a Formulation Development Scientist to join their team.

The main purpose of this Formulations Scientist role will be to work on the process and product development of new and existing product lines. You will formulate products into suitable dosage formats and manufacture lab-scale formulations for investigational work. This will involve liaison with other departments on a project basis, carrying out process optimisation studies to identify critical process parameters and preparing protocols and reports with recommendations.

Further responsibilities of this Formulations Scientist role include:

  • Generating, recording and assessing the quality and validity of data generated and drawing conclusions from this data.
  • Providing formulation expertise for site concern note root cause exercises.
  • Training others in the use of laboratory equipment, procedures and methods.
  • Identifying suitable suppliers and contractors for progression of projects
  • Remaining aware of developments within the formulation science field.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a Life Sciences discipline. To be considered, you must also have a minimum of three years experience in a formulations role in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or food, with proven experience in product development processes. Knowledge of GLP and GMP is also required, together with the ability to drive projects and effectively analyse data.
