This role primarily involves assisting the development of SNARE cleavage assays using methods such as Western Blotting, HPLC and FRET.

A BSc in a relevant field is essential for this role, and knowledge and experience of working with proteins and botulinum neurotoxins would be beneficial.

Microbiology Manager (Food Manufacturing) – Oxford

Andrew Bolton at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Microbiology Manager to join a global Packaging Manufacturer at their state-of-the-art facilities in Oxfordshire on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibility:

As a Microbiology Manager, you will have overall responsibility for Microbiology expertise & activities on site including:

  • Providing microbiology support & expertise to development projects & manufacturing on-site in the areas of food manufacturing & processing (in particular heat processed food).
  • Leading a team of Microbiologists on site.
  • Managing & carrying out product monitoring & hygiene audits internally & at customer sites.
  • Providing technical advice to customer teams.

Qualification and Skills:

As a Microbiology Manager you will have a qualification in Microbiology or a related discipline (or equivalent) and knowledge of some or all of the following:

  • Heat-preserved foodstuffs and beverages
  • Heat-processing and pasteurisation of foods and beverages.
  • Spoilage mechanisms of processed foods and beverages.
  • Recovery, isolation and identification of spoilage microorganisms to genus/species level.
  • Hygiene of food and beverage packing processes.
  • Hygienic manufacture of packaging and validation of in-plant controls.
  • Aseptic filling and sealing
  • Microbial resistance to heat-processing and chemical sterilisation techniques.
  • Alternative non-thermal processes.
  • Packaging decontamination mechanisms.
  • Challenge testing of packaging seals, filling processes, sterilisation and decontamination.

Compliance Process Engineer – Oxfordshire

Jason Johal at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Compliance Process Engineer  to join a global, broad-based health care company at their site in Oxfordshire.

The Role:

This aim of this Compliance Process Engineer job is to coordinate and direct compliance issues within the Operations Engineering department of a global, broad-based health care company devoted to the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of pharmaceuticals and medical products, including nutritionals, devices and diagnostics. They will ensure a consistent approach is taken to resolving quality issues including ERs, CAPAs, Calibration Alerts and Post Investigations.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this Compliance Process Engineer role will include:

  • Providing technical support to the calibration department to ensure that all calibration activities meet divisional and corporate requirements.
  • Supporting the introduction of new products and / or equipment through effectively managing the engineering document change process.
  • Seeking new ways of improving the efficiency of the Engineering Compliance group. Actively promoting the use of continuous improvement programs.
  • Developing strong links within Operations department to ensure service provided meets business requirements.
  • Understanding regulatory and corporate requirements to ensure the Operations Engineering department continues to meet cGMP and leading teams to deliver compliance projects and quality initiatives.

The successful incumbent will be expected to develop projects from concept through to implementation with the aim of continually improving Engineering processes including preventative and demand maintenance programs. They will also be responsible for authoring, reviewing and updating Operations Engineering documents to ensure compliance with regulatory, site and corporate requirements and for providing SME support to internal and external audits as required.

Qualifications and skills:

The ideal candidate for this Compliance Process Engineer job will have experience within a regulated industry, preferably medical devices or pharmaceutical along with a proven knowledge of engineering and calibration processes. They will also have:

  • The ability to take prompt action to accomplish objectives and to work under their own initiative.
  • A proven track record of technical report authoring and of delivering assigned projects / goals to on time, within budget and ensuring that internal customer requirements are meet.
  • Experience of working within a high volume highly regulated manufacturing environment with full membership of a recognised professional Engineering or Quality body is desirable.

Senior Technologist Job – Oxfordshire, UK

CK Science are currently recruiting for a Senior Technologist to join a Pharmaceutical/Medical Device company based in Oxfordshire.

Based within the New Products division, you will provide technical support to New Product introduction (NPI), in particular supporting the characterisation, validation and verification of new products, procedures, materials and tests.

You will take ownership of projects associated with NPI and will oversee all project management, Quality, Validation and organisational aspects required.

The process area and the processes themselves are complicated and as such we require someone who is a quick learner, that is organised and that is self driven. You will work well as part of a team as well as autonomously and it is essential that you have the ability to drive long term projects. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills both written and verbal as you will need to complete technical documentation and present data to all levels within the organisation.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will hold a scientific or engineering degree (or equivalent) and will have gained experience within the Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industries. They will have knowledge of manufacturing or production and will be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. They will also have an understanding of the principles behind Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement together with a good understanding of cGMP and quality systems, particularly in areas of the Design Control and Validation.

API Synthetic Organic Chemist Job – Oxfordshire, UK

We are currently recruiting for an API Synthetic Organic Chemist to join a Pharmaceutical company based in Oxfordshire that conducts research, development and manufacturing on a contract basis for both large and small innovators.

The API Synthetic Organic Chemist is expected to play a significant role in defining and carrying out key process development and preparative work and in supporting the transfer of processes to the pilot plant. They will also prepare for laboratory-based cGMP projects, ensure that all experimental work is accurately recorded, ensure the appropriate quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained (cGMP) and be proactive in ensuring company SOP’s and policies are adhered to, up to date and complete.

The ideal candidate for this API Synthetic Organic Chemist job will be an organic chemist educated to PhD level or degree level (or equivalent) with appropriate and relevant experience in practical chemistry and will have the following skills and experience:

  • They should be familiar with the use of online literature research tools and be able to quickly assimilate new information and thus establish effective work-rate.
  • They will be practically competent in a laboratory environment including experience in a variety of chemistry and purification techniques as well as the use of HPLC, LC-MS, NMR.
  • They will also have the ability and aptitude to work with care and dedication across a range of project types (e.g. custom preparation, process research, route identification, and plant support).
  • GMP experience in the API synthesis is preferred.

NPI Project Manager Job (Medical Device) – UK

CK Science are currently searching for a NPI Project Manager to join a global Medical Device company based in Oxfordshire, UK.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities of this NPI Project Manager will include providing technical support to the NPI (New Product Introduction) for the diabetes strip-manufacturing unit and supporting the unit to maintain production output and yields. Ensuring the analysis and interpretation of measurements in process and release test data, identify potential areas of inefficiency to drive continuous process, product, cost and quality improvements in the manufacturing unit. You will also ensure all work carried out in compliance with the correct processes and procedures and take ownership of assigned ER’s CAPA’s and VMP activities.

 

Person Specification:

For this NPI Project Manager role you will be degree qualified in a scientific/Engineering discipline (or equivalent) with previous experience in Validation. Previous knowledge of relevant processes, test methods, analytical techniques, experimental design, data analysis and statistical process control would be advantageous. You will have a good understanding of cGMP in Design Control and Validation. Understanding the principals behind Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies is essential and have excellent communication and IT skills. Process Development Technologist Job – Oxfordshire

CK Science are currently searching for a Process Development Technologist to join a global Medical Device company based in Oxfordshire, UK.

 

Responsibilities:

As a Process Development Technologist, your key responsibilities will include providing technical support to the NPI (New Product Introduction) for the diabetes strip-manufacturing unit and supporting the unit to maintain production output and yields. Ensuring the analysis and interpretation of measurements in process and release test data, identify potential areas of inefficiency to drive continuous process, product, cost and quality improvements in the manufacturing unit. You will also ensure all work carried out in compliance with the correct processes and procedures and take ownership of assigned ER’s CAPA’s and VMP activities.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

For this Process Development Technologist role you will a degree in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with previous experience in a similar discipline. Previous knowledge of relevant processes, test methods, analytical techniques, experimental design, data analysis and statistical process control would be advantageous. You will have a good understanding of cGMP in Design Control and Validation. Understanding the principals behind Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies is essential and have excellent communication and IT skills.
