Junior Risk & Safety Consultant (Oil & Gas, Engineer) – North West

Victoria Walker is currently recruiting for a Junior Risk & Safety Consultant to join an environmental and engineering consultancy based in the North West.

Responsibilities:

The main roles and responsibilities of this Junior Risk & Safety Consultant role will be to provide support to various project managers working on mainly Risk and Safety Projects with the possibility to work across other areas. You will be participating in projects in the following typical areas:

  • Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (Qualitative and Quantitative)
  •  HAZOP Consequence Analysis including modelling (Dispersion
  •  fires, explosion, etc)
  • Reliability Assessments
  • Human Factors Assessments
  • Safety and Environmental Management Systems
  • Preparation of documents to satisfy regulations administered by government regulators such as Environment Agency and Health and Safety Executive, including COMAH (Seveso) safety reports.
  • You will also participate in the preparation of proposals and service development.

Qualifications:

In order to be considered for this Junior Risk & Safety Consultant role you will have a 1st degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering, Process/ Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology or allied subject, and ideally a 2nd degree in Safety and Loss Prevention. You will have experience in the following areas:

  • Process engineering and technology, preferably in the oil, gas, energy and chemical industries.
  • Understanding of process hazards.
  • Computer modelling of fire, explosion and toxic hazards, particularly using PHAST
  • COMAH experience would be an advantage. Health, Safety and Environment management systems.

Typically the successful candidate would be expected to have some experience of practical industrial work. This could be in the process industry in a technical, design or process role, or work experience with a regulatory/consultancy in the industrial field in order to have the skills and knowledge to be successful in this role. However, depth and breadth rather than length of experience will be considered when making recruitment decisions. You will be numerate and able to manipulate spread sheets.

Our client provides measurement and analytical services for the Oil & Gas industry. They are looking for a Technical Manager to set the strategic direction and provide technical leadership for all UK OGC sites.

Responsibilities:

As Technical Manager, you will provide support to Operations and Commercial Managers in developing business opportunities and generating revenue while line managing the team locally. This will involve writing tenders, managing large scale M&I projects, assessing the value of new developments within M&I and perform high level specialist revenue earning measurement consultancy work.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Technical Manager role, you must be qualified to minimum HNC level in an engineering discipline or possess equivalent industrial experience and be a member of a relevant industry body. Development Manager (Compounding and Manufacturing) based in the North of Scotland

Our client, a global organisation providing field-proven solutions to the oil and gas industry, are currently looking for a Development Manager to join their team based in the North of Scotland. The purpose of this Development Manager role is to develop the compounding and manufacturing process for elastomer based products on a global scale.

Further responsibilities of this Compounding and Manufacturing Manager role include:

  • Developing manufacturing strategies (both compound mixing and product manufacturing) on a global level to ensure that products are continually supplied to required quality, delivery and cost levels.
  • Direct liaison and negotiating with potential manufacturing vendors/partners to allow for controlled expansion of the global manufacturing footprint.
  • Providing technical expertise to the R&D / Engineering / Supply Chain teams and specialised third parties in relation to compound development and enhancement.
  • Providing professional documentation and training for the efficient knowledge transfer to the Supply Chain when appropriate.
  • To be able and willing to travel to any location if required to do so due to operational manufacturing needs.
  • Developing relationships with compounding and manufacturing facilities.
  • Assisting with continuous improvement plans relating to new compounding & manufacturing processes and techniques.

The successful candidate will be qualified to minimum HND in chemistry or equivalent industrial experience and have a proven track record of working in compounding and manufacture of elastomers. You must also possess some managerial or supervisory experience. Entitlement to work in the EEA is essential.

Scottish Oil Discovery Boosts Shares in Faroe and Dana

Shares in Faroe Petroleum (FPM) and Dana Petroleum (DMX) have enjoyed a boost of 6.3 percent to their share price after the Atlantic Margin, North Sea and Norway-focused explorer announced an oil discovery at the Tornado exploration project, west of Shetland. The well discovered oil and gas in Tertiary reservoir sandstones, and data collection is currently ongoing. As a result, Dana Petroleum saw its shares rise by almost 3%, whilst shares in Faroe Petroleum got a 6% boost. Dana’s chief executive, Tom Cross, stated: “The discovery of hydrocarbons at Tornado is an important result as it lies in an area of the UK Continental Shelf where Dana and Faroe Petroleum have very strong positions as the key independents. We look forward to the sidetrack well to determine the ultimate size of this new field.” This indicates that the discovery may open up a new area for the duo with the potential to create many new jobs in the oil and gas industry in Scotland.
