Alex Tosney at CK Science is recruiting for a number of Quality Systems Engineers to join a leading medical devices company based in Leeds. This role is initially contracted for 6 months however it could be extended further.
As a Quality Systems Engineer your main responsibility will be to produce and maintain appropriate and comprehensive quality process specifications as required during the development and implementation of new products.
As a Quality Systems Engineer, some of the skill you will need include:
- HNC or Engineering degree
- A number of years engineering experience, ideally have served an engineering apprenticeship

The Yorkshire Post has reported that the medical devices company Tissue Regenix has asked for a new dedicated science park in Leeds
Mr Antony Odell the managing director of Tissue Regenix said it and other science firms need a dedicated science park, where they can grow and develop as a cluster, to retain skills and wealth in Yorkshire.
The company recently raised £25m to commercialise its innovative technology. Currently they are outgrowing its space at York Science Park. Mr Odell also said “We are looking at premises in York and Leeds. There’s not a dedicated bio park in Leeds”
Leeds City Council said it has narrowed down five possible sites to develop a healthcare science park. The sites include Leeds Valley Park, Logic Leeds, Thorpe Park, Hawks Park and Thorp Arch Estate near Wetherby.

The Leeds based food manufacturer
, Northern Foods
, has reported an increase in revenue for the the year ended April 3 from £975m to £977m.
The food manufacturer accounted the rise in profits to an increase in investment in brands, automation, food science and technology. This has positioned the company for continued growth.
Northern Foods also stated that the last financial year had witnesed te firm strengthen its capabilities by recruiting new talent. The food maufacturer has recruited five new scientists, one per business unit – in otder to support their cheif scientist and gain advantage over their competitors in the food industry.
A spokesperson from Northern Foods said: “Northern Foods has traded solidly in challenging market conditions. We expect these conditions to continue, but we remain well positioned for the future.
“Even during these uncertain economic times we continue to invest in brands, cost efficiency and technology to deliver long term shareholder value supported by our strong financial position.”

Yesterday saw the official opening of Leeds Metropolitan University’s new Biomedical Sciences Laboratory. The new facility was opened by Bill McCarthy, Chief Executive of NHS Yorkshire and the Humber.
The new biomedical sciences laboratories provide an important resource for the universities biomedical and environmental sciences students who are starting out in their scientific careers. The laboratory also opens doors for the university in terms of offering an enhanced provision for research and consultancy scientific work.
Dr Biddy Unsworth, Subject Group Leader for Health Sciences said. “The labs are a huge asset to our University and will benefit over 500 students in this year alone.”
Leeds Metropolitan University’s Faculty of Health provides a variety of courses in Biomedical Sciences. Graduates from the University often enter scientific career paths such as research and development in the pharmaceutical industry, microbiology, medical writing and medical sales. Qualified Biomedical Scientists are also employed in the NHS, Health Protection Agency and private sector laboratories in a variety of roles, including clinical trials.
