Technical Manager – Aberdeen

Barney Smith at CK Science is recruiting for a Technical Manager to work at a specialist polymer manufacturing company based in Aberdeen for a permanent role.

Responsibilities:

As a Technical Manager you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to clients globally and offshore.  You will also develop polymer coating using extraction and injection moulding techniques to customer specifications.  The team is small and you will have to be hands on and happy to work any area including QA, QC, or dealing with technical specifications.

Qualification and skills:

As a Technical Manager you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Masters qualified in a polymer processing related subject or equivalent industrial experience
  • A proven track record in extrusion or injection moulding

The job:

This Technical Managers role will in the long term offer worldwide travel and ad hoc offshore trips with opportunities later to be stationed abroad. There may be some flexibility in salary with relevant experience within the Oil & Gas sector.

Internal Technical Services Representative Role – North West

Naynesh Mistry at CK Science is looking to recruit an Internal Technical Service Representative, to join a Speciality Plastics Company at their site in the North West.

Responsibilities:

The principle responsibilities of this Internal Technical Service Representative role will be:

  • Provide technical consultation support to internal customers and help with troubleshooting
  • Technical service contact for internal sales and distributors
  • Focal contact for complaints
  • Support field technical service and application development with trial preparations at customers
  • Backup of field technical service and application development during their holidays
  • Occasional travel to customers, main communication via phone and e-mail
  • Advice with testing needs for problem solving
  • Ability to work with people with different personalities and from different backgrounds

Qualifications:

The successful candidate for this Technical Service Representative role will ideally have:

  • BSc or MSc in polymer science, engineering or technology
  • Industry experience in plastics processing would be an advantage.
  • A deep understanding of co polyesters, cellulosics and processes relevant to speciality plastics would also be an advantage as would a solid understanding of conversion processes relevant to speciality plastics products such as extrusion, injection moulding.

Development Chemist (Polymers/ Materials) – North West

Victoria Walker  is currently recruiting for a Development Chemist to join an international organisation within the polymer/plastic additive sector in the North West

Responsibilities:

This Development Chemist role is an outstanding new opportunity for an experienced industrial Development Scientist, to apply their expertise and knowledge to deliver new products and complete development projects while supporting the commercialisation of these products.
The ideal candidate for this Development Chemist role will develop and maintain an expert understanding of the company’s technologies while assisting in the transfer of technology to a commercial product offering, suitable for Eurasian markets.

Skills and Qualifications:

Suitable candidates for this Development Chemist role will have a proven product development/formulation track record within the polymer/materials science industries and be qualified to PhD level in a similar discipline.
You also will have excellent project management, planning, presentation and organisational skills and have knowledge of the injection moulding and extrusion process. A second European language would also be useful.
