Resourcer attends first client visit

Emily Major, Resourcer for CK Science’s Stevenage team, attended her visit client visit last week.

Accompanied by Senior Consultant, Andy Bolton, Emily went to visit chemical manufacturer Huntsman to tour their Manufacturing Plant. To comply with H&S both Andy and Emily were supplied with the relevant attire, however Emily showed her small stature when their smallest size swamped her.

As part of our client relationship management, CK Science consultants arrange frequent visits to sites to ensure they are fully comprehend how the businesses operates, the market it operates in, plans for the forthcoming year and any recruitment requirements they have. These visits are considered essential as it enables CK Science consultants to recognise the specific skills or personality types that would fit each individual business.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Supervisor – Kent

Andrew Bolton at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Supervisor to join a leading Diagnostics Manufacturer at their R&D and GMP Manufacturing facilities based in Kent on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be leading a team of 5 Maintenance Technicians and 1 Administrator that are responsible for preventative & reactive maintenance across 3 sites based within close proximity in Kent.

Your duties will include:

  • Day-to-day management of the team including work load scheduling / management and budgets.
  • Ensuring maintenance of research, production and related facilities including pressure systems, electrical & electro-mechanical equipment & utilities.
  • Develop & maintain the organisation’s Computerised Maintenance Management System.
  • Performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on all re-occurring faults and performing Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) to establish potential improvements.
  • Maintain records & documentation for regulatory purposes.

Qualifications:

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will have the following qualifications, skills & experience:

  • A qualification in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent).

Laboratory Manager (Water) – Cambridgeshire

Andrew Bolton at CK Science is currently looking for a Laboratory Manager to join an industry leading Water Testing Laboratory at their site in Cambridgeshire on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

As a Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team within an Analytical Testing / Chemistry laboratory providing water testing services. Your duties will include:

  • Day-to-day people management of a medium sized (10 – 14 people) team of Technicians and Analysts including recruitment, training & personal development when required.
  • Ensuring sample turnaround including liaising closely with customers throughout the process.
  • Maintaining a hands on involvement in analytical testing using techniques such as ICP, GC, MS, AAS & a scope of wet chemistry, coupled with more specialist testing such as cryptosporidium analysis.
  • Performing method development and validation of equipment used.
  • Ensuring quality systems & documentation are maintained (ISO, DWI).

Qualifications and skills:

As a Laboratory Manager, you will have the following qualifications, skills & experience:

  • A qualification in Chemistry or a relevant discipline (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in an analytical testing laboratory. Specific experience in the Water industry would be highly advantageous, but it is not essential.
  • Proven people supervisory / team leader experience.

CK Science is currently representing several organisations in the South of the UK who are looking for Analytical Chemists / Analysts to join their Petrochemical / Oil & Gas Testing Laboratories based in the London and Hampshire regions.

Working as an Analytical Chemist / Analyst, you will be responsible for the analysis of chemical samples, using a wide range of physical property analysis (ASTM, IP) and analytical techniques such as ICP, AA, GCMS, HPLC and GC. Working in a busy, customer facing laboratory, you will also be required to monitor quality standards in the laboratory (UKAS, ISO) as well as liaise with the customer surrounding results of tests.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a leading Testing Laboratory, which in return offers an attractive salary and benefits package.

To be considered for this role, you will have a degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related discipline (or equivalent). It is essential to have a demonstrated background in an Analytical function within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical or Environmental industries.

Our client, a leading Inks Technology organisation, are currently looking for a Development Engineer to join their growing R&D Team based from their site in the Hertfordshire & Cambridgeshire region.

Working as a Development Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of design, assembly and testing of the organisations printing systems. Your duties will include the design (CAD) and prototyping of systems in line with customer requirements; implementing technology development as well as carrying out testing and validation of subsystems and systems solutions through empirical testing and analytical models.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an innovative, leading Inks Technology organisation, which in return offers an attractive salary and benefits package.

To be considered for this role, you will have a degree in an Engineering discipline – Mechanical, Electronic, Materials, Production – (or equivalent) and demonstrated experience in a Development Engineer function including knowledge of CAD, gained in an Inks industry.

Aeronautical Engineer Job – Hampshire, UK

Our client, a leading Engineering Consultancy, are currently looking for an Aeronautical Engineer to join their Aviation Division, specialising in Engine Testing Services, based from their state-of-the-art facilities in Hampshire, UK.

Working as an Aeronautical Engineer, you will be responsible for program management of a small team of operators and engineers involved in running Gas Path Analysis (GPA) and Engine Monitoring Programs (EMP) on a wide range of customer Gas Turbine Engines to identify potential engine problems.

As part of your role as Aeronautical Engineer, you will also be required to offer technical support to customers within both the pre-sales and post analysis stages as well as maintaining general quality standards, procedures and policies within the testing facility.
