Rosy outlook for science jobs

The results of the latest employer “Jobs Outlook” published by REC are in and they make very positive reading for job seekers within the scientific fields. The report is published following a survey of over 400 employers throughout the UK and some of the interesting results include:

  • Nearly half of all employers (48%) plan to increase the use of contract employees in the short term (3 -6 months)
  • More than 75% of all employers expect to recruit additional permanent staff in the medium term (within 1 year)
  • Only 9% of UK hirers have spare capacity to take on more work with their current staffing levels
  •  More than 1 in 4 employers state that they will give their staff a pay rise this year

This positive news is reflected across CK Science where we have seen a 10.3% rise in the number of vacancies registered in the first ¼ of 2014.
