Mental Health Awareness Week 2019, hosted by mentalhealth.org, will take place from Monday 13 to Sunday 19 May 2019.
During Mental Health Awareness Week, schools, businesses and community groups are encouraged to bring attention to the subject of mental health in numerous ways. There are many ways to get involved with Mental Health Awareness Week, from fund-raisers to organising a workplace or community ‘Tea & Talk’ or ‘Curry & Chaat’. The aim is to bring people together, raise awareness and open up conversations around the topic of mental health.
Since mentalhealth.org‘s first Mental Health Awareness Week in 2001, they have worked to bring awareness to topics like stress, relationships and loneliness. This year, the theme and focus for Mental Health Awareness Week is body image and how we think and feel about our bodies.
April was Stress Awareness Month which focused on the importance of managing stress. Chronic stress can lead on to mental health issues like anxiety and depression.
