CK Group are recruiting for a Development Specialist to join a bioplastics technology company at their site near Hull on a full time, permanent basis.

The Company:

Our client is a bioplastics technology company operating through technology licensing, with compounding partners in the UK, France and China. Salary is competitive and varies depending on experience.

Development Specialist Role:

Your main duties will be:

  • Biopolymer Formulation Development: Developing and testing newbiopolymer formulations using extrusion methods.
  • Plastics Processing Investigation: Working with injection moulding equipment and other thermoplastic extrusion processes in order to develop manufacturing guidelines for end customers.
  • Desk Based Research and Literature Reviews: Researching new solutions to problems related to formulation by reviewing available literature and proposing solutions to be tested.
  • Researching and Sourcing of Raw Materials: Identifying appropriate raw materials and additives to be tested, working with the company Logistics and Supply Chain coordinator to source samples and key information.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Writing up of trial results in order to capture all key information, which may feed into confidential company know-how or future patent applications.
  • Internal Collaboration: Working with the Applications Specialist to analyse trial outcomes, proposing and testing solutions to any obstacles that have been encountered.

Your Background:

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience: The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry. Past experience within the plastics industry and the production of compounds via twin-screw extrusion is required. A full clean UK driver’s license is essential.
