Solid Form Scientist - Cambridge
Jason Johal is currently recruiting for a Solid Form Scientist to join the Health Division of a Global group who are also World leaders in Solid State Science and Crystallisation Development. The divisions services include solid-form and physicochemical profiling, salt/polymorph and cocrystal screening and selection, and scale up of forms. This is a challenging role for an experienced individual wishing to either develop or progress their career depending on experience. Based in a state-of-the-art facility Cambridgeshire this role is offered on a full time permanent basis and comes with a competitive salary.
The Company: The team is ideally placed to help support and accelerate the development of small molecule APIs from late discovery, through clinical studies to commercialisation. The group has 8 dedicated solid state laboratories fully equipped with state of the art instrumentation including but not limited to capabilities in; X-Ray Powder Diffraction (including variable temperature and humidity) Single Crystal Diffraction, Thermal analysis (DSC and TGA), GVS/ DVS, Sirius automated pKa/ logP and solubility measurement platforms for physicochemical analysis along with multiple crystallisation development tools and PAT tools, including Optimax reactor and Mettler Toledo FBRM, PVM, Renishaw Raman Spectroscopy and a Malvern Mastersizer 3000.
The Role: You will either Lead or Participate in R&D investigations both independently and as part of a team to promote innovation and continuous improvement. You will design and implement experimental procedures, interpret data and provide recommendations, independently and as part of the team. You will be expected to lead/participate in problem solving activities, efficiently manage/participate in projects and display excellent communication and organisational skills. You will also be expected to create value through the development of key technical areas and/or collaboration in Business Development activities.
Your Background: You will hold a degree or postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in a chemistry related discipline or pharmaceutical sciences. Previous experience in solid form screening, crystallisation development or particle engineering is required and knowledge of GMP, GLP, and ISO 9001 is highly desirable.
