Naynesh Mistry and Jim Gleeson at the CK Group are recruiting for a Senior R&D Manager (Consumer Safety & Labelling) to join RB (Reckitt Benckiser), a world leading Consumer Healthcare company based in Hull, on a full time, permanent basis.

As Senior R&D Manager Consumer Safety & Labelling you will:

  • Provide leadership of individual Consumer Safety and Health teams with a strong sense of global team spirit, identity and purpose

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships across the broader business, including Category R&D, Supply, Procurement, Quality and Marketing to ensure an understanding of Product Safety requirements and clear prioritisation

  • Establish and maintain fit for purpose harmonised global Safety and Ingredient processes, including product classification, toxicology testing, precautionary language, first aid for product labelling etc across all regions and products

  • Closely align with the project development teams to ensure that product Safety requirements are consistent and built into the development strategies for new and existing product development and other projects enabling the delivery of safe new and amended products to the market place

In order to be considered for this role, you will be required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Educated to BSc/MSc/PhD level in Toxicology or a related discipline. with additional academic, industrial or regulatory experience

  • Proven experience of the leadership, management and motivation of high achieving teams

  • Toxicology experience

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing product risk assessments and developing risk mitigation practices for chemical substances and preparations

  • Expertise in the review of toxicology and related chemical safety data

  • Extensive knowledge of chemical legislation, safety and labelling of chemicals and preparations as related to key regional/market guidelines and directives

  • Proven ability to manage complex safety issues

  • Proven ability to deliver stretching targets

  • Thorough understanding of product development and commercialisation processes


  • Outstanding leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills

  • Capable of motivating teams and building strong working relationships to deliver outstanding results with or without hierarchical relationships

  • Result-oriented, entrepreneurial and self-motivating

  • Focus for action, capability to define, evaluate and take risks

  • Commercial understanding of corporate and operational business issues

  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy, planning issues, budgeting, priority setting and project management

  • Ability to transform thinking into action (a thinker and an achiever)
