Senior Laboratory Manager - London
Naynesh at CK Science is recruiting for a Senior Laboratory Manager/Director to join and head up the Clinical Nutritional Biochemistry Lab for a Medical Referral Laboratory that specialises in nutritional and environmental medicine. With two laboratories located in West London, attendance at both sites will be required and the role is offered on a full-time permanent basis with a salary of £50,000 - £60,000+.
The Company The laboratory was established in 1984 and provides a wide range of tests assessing clinical levels of minerals, toxic elements, vitamins & antioxidants and fatty acids, along with other innovative methods for assessing diet and lifestyle factors on health. By investigating the effects of twenty-first century lifestyles on our bodies, the company are dedicated to assisting doctors to help patients' problems in a way that does not rely on drugs as a first line of treatment. They work closely with routine hospital laboratories who supply all routine pathology investigations and a number of international specialist laboratories for more advanced pathology.
The Role: As the Senior Laboratory Manager/Director you will be responsible for ensuring that the nutritional biochemistry laboratory accurately and efficiently measures vitamin and mineral levels, toxic metals, other biochemical levels that are related to the availability of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.
The laboratory is staffed by a highly experienced and qualified team who have undertaken extensive research into this field of medicine and the management of this group will be a key aspect of the role. They have a dedication to analytical excellence combined with an intrinsic awareness of the importance of holding the best interest of the patients' well-being as the most important consideration at all times.
The Laboratory offers testing for:
- Vitamins and related Function tests
- Essential Fatty Acids
- Profiles and Screens
- Gut Function
- Toxic Metals
Your Background: The successful candidate will hold PhD in a relevant subject (or equivalent).
You will also have demonstrable experience and interest in nutritional biochemistry, and experience of managing a laboratory team. Experience of method development and use of ICP-MS, AA, GC & HPLC would be a distinct advantage.
There will be a considerable level of clinician contact and support required.
Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee the further development of laboratory methods, provide support to technical staff and provide education on their tests to clinicians.
