Lana Premadasa is recruiting for a Research Analyst - Protein Mass Spectrometry to join an international life sciences measurement and testing company that provides a range of measurement products and services which underpin the safety, health and security of the public. This expert sample analysis/interpretation and their customers come from across a number of end markets including Pharmaceuticals, Agricultural Biotechnology, Food, Environment, Government and Academia. This role is offered on a full time permanent basis.

This is a great opportunity for an early career scientist to be trained and/or further develop his/her skills in bio-analysis and mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will be trained to develop and validate protein structural analysis and quantification methods by using a broad range of mass spectrometry and separation science platforms.

The main purpose of the role will be to:

  • Perform development and validation of methods addressing measurement challenges in the neurodegenerative, cardiac marker and biopharmaceutical areas.
  • Perform development and validation of mass spectrometry methods for protein structural analysis measurements including HDX-MS and IMS-MS
  • Perform instrument troubleshooting, maintenance and optimisation

In order to be considered for this role, you will be required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, biochemistry or a related discipline
  • Some practical mass spectrometry and/or separation science experience
  • Enthusiastic and innovative scientist

Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work, applicants should note that security clearance may be required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have three years continuous residency in the UK. Criminal convictions may prevent you from gaining security clearance. This role may in addition require random alcohol/drug screening.
