CK Group are recruiting for a Protein Scientist to join a to join a global pharmaceutical company, based in Slough on a contract basis initially for 12 months

Salary:

  • 18.19 per hour

Protein Scientist Role:

  • Responsible for expressing and purifying high-quality recombinant protein reagents to support antibody and drug discovery platforms
  • Drive innovative projects forward from the laboratory
  • Keep up to date with literature and public databases (PDB, NCBI) and demonstrate scientific knowledge in the design and execution of value-adding experiments
  • Responsible for clearly presenting work and engaging in discussion in a variety of cross-functional and external collaborator meetings

Your Background:

  • Hold a relevant scientific degree or equivalent working experience
  • Some practical laboratory experience in protein biochemistry and recombinant protein production.
  • Experience in Molecular Biology techniques (such as DNA manipulation), Protein Expression, Protein Purification and Protein Analysis (SDS PAGE, HPLC, ELISA and Western blotting)

  • Lead, develop and drive a culture of safety and training in the laboratory and on site
  • Provide leadership and a clear understanding of priorities and ensure that junior staff members work activities are aligned with development and project objectives and priorities
  • Clearly and concisely communicate technical progress with department heads in a timely fashion on a day-to-day basis and during project meetings
  • Allocate priorities to reporting staff in line with business objectives

Your Background: The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Minimum of a Masters Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent, strong preference will be give to candidates who hold a Ph.D.
  • 6+ years experience in technology development, including 3+ years managing a team
  • Demonstrable laboratory experience including supervisory/management experience
  • In depth knowledge of the product development process, ideally evidence of progressing projects from proof of concept to commercialisation
  • Experience in the use of project management tools, e.g. GANTT charts
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of scientists towards a common goal
  • Demonstrable experience of leading industrial validation trials
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable dealing with people of all levels both within the business and externally
  • Willingness to travel, both internationally and within the UK
