Oliver Care at CK Science is recruiting for a Principal Chemist to join a chemical research company at their site based in Cardiff on a permanent basis.

The Company:

Our client are an expert service provider to the chemical development, research and manufacturing industries, specialising in the process research and development for manufacturing drug substance and other high value materials.


This role is located in Cardiff. The site is easily commutable from the surrounding areas via excellent road links and public transport routes.

The Role:

Your main duties will be:

  • Designing, leading and delivering chemistry programmes to cost, quality and time demands.
  • Writing and presenting proposals for potential clients, liaising with clients at technical meetings, compiling reports to convey results and offer conclusions, and account management.
  • Bringing scientific excellence to the research and development of new processes for the companies clients.

Further responsibilities will include:

  • Practical project delivery in the laboratory as project and portfolio demands require.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior members of staff.

Your Background:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Extensive experience within chemistry and management.
  • PhD level candidate or equivalent experience.
  • Detailed understanding of organic synthesis, scale-up and process chemistry.

The Benefits:

A highly competitive salary of between £39,000 and £50,000 depending on experience.
