Organic Chemist - Hertfordshire
Julie Marshall at CK Science is recruiting for an Organic Chemist to join a company in the Pharmaceutical industry at their site based in Hertfordshire on a contract basis for 6 months.
The main purpose of the role is:
To be involved in the design of optimal syntheses of new drug candidates, capable of operation at full scale manufacture. To support the transfer of processes from the laboratory to the pilot plant and to worldwide manufacturing facilities. To be involved in the development and evaluation of these chemical processes with regard to safety, economy, quality, health and environmental impact to ensure reproducibility, reliability and sustainability.
In order to be considered for this role, you will be required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
For this role you will need an excellent first degree in chemistry followed by a PhD in a relevant area of organic chemistry. Your synthetic experience may have been broadened by a postdoctoral period in an eminent department or relevant industrial experience.
You will have proven problem solving skills and a demonstrated track record of innovation.
The role will involve working within a multidisciplinary environment and you should be able to demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
You will have a detailed understanding of practical synthetic organic chemistry and relevant literature.
You will be capable of designing innovative chemical syntheses to novel drug candidates.
A basic understanding of drug discovery and development would be beneficial.
A working knowledge of GMP would also be beneficial but is not essential.
