Jason Johal at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Molecular Pathologist to join a dedicated team of scientists providing an outsourced service to one of the top ten largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. This is a permanent, full time role based at the client's research and development site in Surrey which is commutable from London, Oxford, Reading and Guilford.

Key responsibilities will include establishing and implementing new neuropathological methods (immunocytochemistry, histochemical and image analysis) to characterise new models of neurodegeneration. You will support tissue processing, embedding and sectioning of samples from various studies and design, validate and execute new immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence techniques for target validation.

Additional activities will include digital acquisition/slide scanning and data analysis from stained sections using Image analysis software and accurate and timely recording of all practical work.

A degree or MSC or equivalent level of technical competency in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience or Physiology is required, together with sound knowledge of experimental design and statistics for biology experimental work. Hands-on experience in neuropathology and immunohistochemistry techniques would be preferred, together with the ability to analyse and interpret neuropathology using microscopy, digital scanning and image analysis software. However training can be given to candidates meeting the primary criteria.

The successful candidate will be joining a very busy, productive team of scientists and must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, dedication and self-motivation together with the desire to acquire new skills. The work requires a meticulous, systematic approach with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. Attention to detail is key, together with an enquiring mind and highly developed verbal and written communications skills.
