Rob Walker at CK Science is recruiting for a Laboratory Analyst to join a construction materials manufacturing company based in the East Midlands on a full time, contract basis.

As a Laboratory Analyst, the main purpose of your role will be to prepare and test materials at all stages of cement production in order to:

  • Check that raw materials and fuels supplied are within specification;
  • Support the process teams in achieving optimum operating conditions;
  • Ensure ongoing QA accreditation of the final cement products; and to provide a service to the technical / commercial customer facing teams

Further responsibilities of this Laboratory Analyst will include:

  • Monitoring raw materials and fuels for conformity
  • Providing testing and sample service to commercial / customer facing teams
  • Maintaining knowledge of testing process
  • Working in a safe manner ensuring health and safety of self and others.
  • Maintaining good knowledge of lab and site specific SHE procedures and safe working procedures
  • Being proactively involved in weekly technical meetings.
  • Carrying out final product testing to demonstrate compliance to assorted standards including BS EN 197
  • Carrying out raw materials and fuels testing to demonstrate compliance to Internal and External Material Specifications
  • Providing testing and sample service to commercial / customer facing teams
  • Participating in continuous improvement projects related to cement plant technical activities

As a Laboratory Analyst, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Laboratory based experience required.
  • Experience within a QA / manufacturing environment or cement production would be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge required.
  • Ability to assess SHE risks and respond accordingly.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to use initiative.
  • Basic report and presentation skills required.
  • Good computer literacy in Microsoft Office and on-site laboratory based software packages.
  • A driving license would be an advantage due to site location
