Julie Marshall at CK Science is recruiting for a Formulation Scientist to join a company in the Pharmaceutical industry at their site based in Hertfordshire on a contract basis for 12 months.

The main purpose of the role will be to:

Identify formulation and process risks during product development and implement experimental strategies to obtain fundamental understanding and mitigate risks during adoption and scale-out of continuous manufacturing processes. Collaborate closely with colleagues in Product Development (Formulation, Analytical, Supply Chain, QA, PAT, and Regulatory) to develop robust continuous manufacturing processes and on- line monitoring systems (real time release). Support the industrialisation of novel secondary manufacturing technologies and supervision of scientific projects. Design and run technical trials to demonstrate equipment capabilities and limitations. Write experimental protocols and reports, execute formulation and process development activities and communicate results to management.

In order to be considered for this role, you will be required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Advanced Degree (or equivalent) in Science or Engineering, PhD /MSc plus relevant industry experience in the development of pharmaceutical formulations (ideally oral solid dosage forms) and analogous manufacturing processes. You will have an understanding (theoretical and practical) of the principals, concepts and methodology governing formulation and process development. You will have the ability to identify key development issues, provide and challenge recommendations for resolution. Working knowledge of GMP requirements is essential. Knowledge of applying continuous processing technology to pharmaceutical processes would be advantageous. A good understanding of material science and powder processing is preferred.
