Jade Stirk is recruiting for a two Downstream Scientists to contribute to the delivery of various Healthcare projects, on behalf of an innovative Biologics development organisation. The company works on a diverse range of technical projects, and offers excellent opportunities for personal development.

The client are seeking to recruit two Scientists: (one would be permanent and the other is a 12 month Fixed term contract).

The Role:

  • To work within the downstream department and will manage and deliver experimentation around the purification of therapeutic biologics focussed on the design, development and scale-down/scale-up of downstream processes.

  • The scientists will work using their own initiative and with some technical supervision from their manager and senior colleagues, assisting with development and improvement activities.

Responsibilities include to:

  • Design and perform experiments to develop and optimise recovery and purification processes for the manufacture of novel biopharmaceutical products.

  • Assist or manage the scale up of downstream processes (up to pilot scale) to provide proof of successful process development/optimisation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Candidates should be educated to at least Ph.D./M.Sc level in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bio/Chemical Engineering and have significant industrial experience.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Strong understanding of principles and practices in separation processes, gained in academic or industrial environments.
  • Experience of process developments and data analysis.

DESIRABLE:

  • Wide experience of performing therapeutic biologics (e.g. centrifugation, filtration and chromatography, protein analysis (HPLC methods, SDS-PAGE and ELISA).

  • Understanding of GMP.

  • Experience of leading technical development projects including training and supervising others.
