Bioprocess Laboratory Technician - Hertfordshire
Jason Johal is recruiting for Bioprocess Laboratory Technician to join a cell & gene therapy processing company based in Hertfordshre. Our client is fast progressing simultaneously several programmes towards clinical investigation and is now establishing a new Discovery Laboratory to ensure the rapid translation of their innovative vectors into clinic benefit. The research group places a strong emphasis on innovation, ability to make a difference to the patients, as well as the ability to apply your skills and develop new ones by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. They will provide you with promising and exiting research projects in an environment that strongly values your development.
Reporting directly to the Lab Manager, you will join the cell and gene therapy process development team and the role will focus on providing technical support to scientists in the team. Duties will include ordering/maintaining consumable stocks, undertake general lab housekeeping, placing purchase orders, coordinating incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments. You will also assist with the administration of laboratory documentation and records (electronic and paper based), perform routine analytical tests to support ongoing process development studies and will run assays including ELISA, metabolite analysis, cell counts, and various plate-based assays. Other duties will include the preparation of media, reagents and buffers, the timely completion of laboratory notebooks and documentation and compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards and procedures.
With Life Science related A-levels or a BSc in a relevant subject (or equivalent), you will have prior laboratory technician experience in a biochemistry, microbiology or biotechnology R&D laboratory. You will also have prior experience with either cell culture or purification methods, good aseptic technique and a range of analytical methods. The ability to learn specific practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve problems along with the ability to use, maintain and calibrate technical equipment with accuracy are required. The role is lab based and will require some out of hours and weekend working to an agreed rota.
