Pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca (AZ), announced in March 2010 that it plans to close its UK research centre in Charnwood near Loughborough. The closure could lead to the loss of up to 1,200 science jobs.
With many staff facing possible redundancy, a careers fair was organized at the site to give staff an insight into possible scientific opportunities that are available.
As the UK’s specialist scientific recruitment consultancy, CK Science was there in full force providing advice, support and information to AZ staff facing redundancy.
Speaking of the Careers Fair, Liam O’Connell, Director at CK Science stated,
“It was a very productive event. We met lots of very good people who are going to be looking for work over the next few years. We are looking forward to meeting up with candidate who are interested to discuss their career options in more depth over the coming weeks.
It was also great to meet a lot of our clients and we were pleased to see some cause for optimisim as things seem to be getting better all round.’
