Analytical Chemistry Jobs Market – 6th July 2016

Each week, CK Science is providing a snapshot of the analytical chemistry jobs market. Over time, we aim to give you a picture of how it changes and evolves, and most importantly, how this may impact on you depending on overall demand and seasonal changes. So whether you are an Analyst looking for a new science job or an employer seeking new Chemist to join your team, we hope that this market snapshot helps you with your decision making.

Our tracking is based on each week screening some of the UKs leading vacancy boards for how many analytical chemistry jobs have been advertised within the previous week.

This summary was completed on Wednesday 6th July and relates to adverts posted for Analytical Chemists on:

  • New Scientist
  • Monster
  • CV Library
  • Emedcareers
  • Pharmiweb
  • Willey job network
  • Access Science jobs.

Our results showed that from these job boards a total of 506 chemistry jobs were published last week, with:

  • 418 permanent roles
  • 83 temporary or contract roles

Scientific recruitment, despite last week’s glitch, really doesn’t seem to have been affected by the referendum results. Following last week’s decline there has been a 10% increase this week, with permanent roles growing by 11% and interim roles by 6%. Having anticipated a slow down in recruitment in response to the UK economic and political uncertainty, what has actually occurred has been small fluctuations but numbers not falling dramatically below this year’s average.

As anticipated, the result of the Brexit Referendum has had an impact on the recruitment of Analytical Chemists, with the volume of job roles dropping by over 8%. This has had a bearing on both permanent and interim roles which have dropped between 7 – 8% each. Hopefully this is a temporary glitch, and numbers will return to their normal levels over the next few weeks. We will continue tracking and will report back next week..

Analytical Chemistry Jobs Market – 23rd May 2016

Each week, CK Science is providing a snapshot of the analytical chemistry jobs market. Over time, we aim to give you a picture of how it changes and evolves, and most importantly, how this may impact on you depending on overall demand and seasonal changes. So whether you are an Analyst looking for a new science job or an employer seeking new Chemist to join your team, we hope that this market snapshot helps you with your decision making.

Our tracking is based on each week screening some of the UKs leading vacancy boards for how many analytical chemistry jobs have been advertised within the previous week.

This summary was completed on Monday 23rd May and relates to adverts posted for Analytical Chemists on:

  • New Scientist
  • Monster
  • CV Library
  • Emedcareers
  • Pharmiweb
  • Willey job network
  • Access Science jobs.

Our results showed that from these job boards a total of 477 Chemistry jobs were published last week, with:

  • 363 permanent roles
  • 114 temporary or contract roles

This week we have tracked a small uplift in the number of scientific jobs being advertised. These roles are predominantly contract and temporary positions, which implies that science recruitment is following the same trend CK is tracking in its other divisions.

We have identified a pattern of behaviour that we are attributing to the upcoming Brexit Referendum and the uncertainty around the UK’s future. As such, CK clients are opting to recruit contract staff rather than commit to permanent expansion of their workforce, thereby safe guarding them against whatever decision comes from the vote. As the results are not due until 23-24 June, we foresee this continuing for the coming weeks.

  • Willey job network
  • Access Science jobs.

Our results showed that from these job boards a total of 400 Analytical Chemistry vacancies were published last week, with:

  • 349 permanent roles
  • 51 temporary or contract roles

There has been a sharp decline in the volume of analytical chemistry jobs posted in the last week, with over 30% fewer roles available. As both permanent and temporary job volumes down our best explanation is the combination of Easter holidays and the final week of the tax year. However, we should be able to tell if this is the case in next week’s report.

Analytical Chemistry Jobs Market – 17th August 2015

Each week, CK Science is providing a snapshot of the Analytical Chemistry jobs market. Over time, we aim to give you a picture of how it changes and evolves, and most importantly, how this may impact on you depending on overall demand and seasonal changes. So whether you are an Analyst looking for a new science job or an employer seeking new Chemist to join your team, we hope that this market snapshot helps you with your decision making.

Our tracking is based on each week screening some of the UKs leading vacancy boards for how many Analytical Chemistry jobs have been advertised within the previous week.

This summary was completed on Monday 17th August and relates to adverts posted for Analytical Chemists on:

  • New Scientist
  • Monster
  • CV Library
  • Emedcareers
  • Pharmiweb
  • Willey job network
  • Access Science jobs.

Our results showed that from these job boards a total of 500 Analytical Chemistry vacancies were published last week, with:

  • 424 permanent roles
  • 76 temporary or contract roles

Following last weeks dip there has been a small recovery in the Analytical Chemistry jobs market, this could be a direct reaction to more entry level candidates being around and clients timing their jobs to coincide with this time of year. It is positive to see a growth in the market place during this typically quiet time. However, in comparison to 2014 there has actually be a 12% decline which is interesting considering the overall buoyancy of the UK’s commerce.
