Analytical Chemistry has seen a 14% drop in jobs in the last week with the decline likely have been reflective of the time of year. We anticipate this trend continuing until mid-January when new budgets and a renewed appetite will drive businesses to focus on recruitment.

QC Analyst – Stirling

CK Science has an excellent opportunity for a QC Analyst to join a leading biotechnology company in Stirling.

This organisation is the 3rd largest manufacturer of inhalation anesthetics globally and one of the top 10 custom manufacturing pharmaceutical companies in the world.

This is initially a 12 month contract but with potential to go permanent, offering a salary of £22,000 to £27,000.

CK team enjoy Chemistry World Jobs Live event

For the 2nd year CK Science have exhibited at the Chemistry World Jobs Live event which took place on Wednesday 26th November at Burlington House in London.

Once again the event was very busy with students, graduates and experienced chemistry candidates flocking to the event to discuss their career aspirations with leading organisations, including AstraZeneca, Croda and Johnson Matthey, as well as recruitment experts such as CK Science.

Throughout the day the event offered a variety of activities including round table discussions, workshops, and even 1-2-1 CV Clinics to help improve employment options. CK Science’s Victoria Walker was asked to be a panelist again for this years round table discussions. During her slot she talked about her career which has included a First in her Chemistry degree, nearly 5 years at CK Science where she specialists in the chemical industry and winning the top industry awards for recruitment – Recruiter of the Year and Permanent Recruiter of the Year in 2013.

CK Science’s Operations Director, Liam O’Connell, has been selected by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation to head up their Life Sciences group.

Liam, who has been recruiting for the science-based industries for over 20 years, will be providing advice and guidance to the industry and ensuring that Life Sciences are well representing by government.

CK Science retains Investors In People accreditation

CK Science is thrilled to have retained the Investors in People Standard having been working within the standard for the past 12 years, following a recent assessment.

Staff at CK Science took part in a recent assessment where they were asked about CK Science as an employer and their personal development opportunities. The report received back following these interviews highlighted that CK Science could actually achieve a higher level of accreditation should they decide to in the future.

CK Science celebrates YCF’s 10th Anniversary

On Tuesday 7th October CK Science joined the YCF at their 10th Anniversary Dinner, where they celebrated 10 years helping the chemical manufacturing industry alongside 180 attendees.

As strong advocates of the work performed by the YCF, CK Science sponsored this special event which saw an action packed agenda made up of:

  • Drinks reception by Panda’s Kitchen
  • Welcome from Jill Mooney, YCF CEO
  • Thank you from CK Science’s Victoria Walker
  • Three-course dinner
  • Founding Members Award Ceremony
  • Balloon raffle
  • Fun casino

The night was a certain success with all attendees enjoying the night and we would like to thank the YCF and other guests for their company. In addition, £1,425 was raised for Lalia Milly Foundation and Martins House Children’s Hospice.

CK Science is thrilled to announce that Graeme Pallas has been shortlisted for the Temporary Recruiter of the Year category at the 2014 IRP Awards. These nationwide awards celebrate excellence in recruitment and honour the achievements of individual recruiters and recruitment organisations across all disciplines.

Graeme, who is based at our Durham office, specialises in temporary scientific and engineering recruitment for the North East and Scotland. Having previously been a policeman, Graeme displays a calm, professional, efficient approach to recruitment which has positively impacted recruitment numbers for his area and seen him become CK Science’s top temp recruiter in just four years.

Permanent jobs have experienced a small blip with a drop of 16 jobs since last week’s numbers, whereas temporary jobs have had a small increase. Small fluctuations are to be expected on a weekly basis but in general the scientific jobs market is seeing far healthier numbers than during the July/August period.

Experienced Recruiter Naynesh has been promoted!

We are thrilled to announce that Naynesh Mistry has been promoted to Senior Recruitment Consultant.

Naynesh has been with CK for over three years and during that time he has developed a very successful permanent life sciences division for the Midlands office.

Having worked for 7 years as a Senior Scientist in the science industries for organisations such as Pfizer and 3M, Naynesh has built up much experience and is now very well known in his sector.

This is a well deserved promotion for Naynesh and we would like to congratulate him and wish him the best in his career at CK.
