New CK Group Company Page on LinkedIn

We are pleased to announce that we have launched a new CK Group company page on LinkedIn. This new portal is to enable us host two way communications with our clients and candidates within a media they are already using.

Having recognised that many of our clients and candidates cross between our divisions we aimed to improve and streamline our customer interactions. Our first solution was to create this new one stop solution where you can obtain news, corporate updates and job details for CK Science, CK Clinical, CK IT and CK Engineers to replace the individual pages and groups we currently host.

With over 24 years in staffing and outsourcing in the science and technology industries we rely upon the great relationships we have formed with leading global organisations as well as SME’s across the UK and Europe. These relationships are key to us so we are always looking for ways to improve our communications and customer service. We believe this new page is the perfect addition.

Vithusa worked as an Analytical Chemist for Covance in Harrogate for 13 months, extended due to the value she added to the department, Vithusa excelled due to her love of lab work.

Praising her course, she said “The course at University of Sunderland has been perfect for me as it has given me broad science training, and the volume of lab work available gave me skills and knowledge which I was able to apply during my placement. This alongside the support given by the faculty, and the interview and cv training supplied by Barney at CK Science, has given all of us on the course the very best head start to either find our first job, or continue academically.”

Vithusa has a bright future ahead having graduated with a 1st Class degree and further awards for best student over the entire course programme / best final year analysis; she plans to do an MSc or PhD in either drug chemistry or biopharmaceutical formulations.

CK Science have been supporters of University of Sunderland  for many years, having recognised their ability to teach young people industry relevant skills and provide the UK recruitment market with employable graduates. Their commitment to the Industrial Placement Programme ensures they maintain strong links with industry, giving them insight to future skills requirements. Analytical Chemistry Jobs Market – 10th August 2015

Each week, CK Science is providing a snapshot of the Analytical Chemistry jobs market. Over time, we aim to give you a picture of how it changes and evolves, and most importantly, how this may impact on you depending on overall demand and seasonal changes. So whether you are an Analyst looking for a new science job or an employer seeking new Chemist to join your team, we hope that this market snapshot helps you with your decision making.

Our tracking is based on each week screening some of the UKs leading vacancy boards for how many Analytical Chemistry jobs have been advertised within the previous week.

This summary was completed on Monday 10th August and relates to adverts posted for Analytical Chemists on:

  • New Scientist
  • Monster
  • CV Library
  • Emedcareers
  • Pharmiweb
  • Willey job network
  • Access Science jobs.

Our results showed that from these job boards a total of 409 Analytical Chemistry vacancies were published last week, with:

  • 340 permanent roles
  • 69 temporary or contract roles

There has been a 40% decrease in the number of Analytical Science jobs in the past week which is a phenomenal drop and taking the total number of jobs down to an all time low. The decline has affected both permanent and contract roles, bring them both down to their lowest figure of the year so far. With it being peak season for holidays we are hopefully these are only a seasonal glitch but this will be verified next week when we expect to see the same trend continue.

Analysing international job searches – where do people want to work?

Indeed, a job site which lists jobs from companies in over 50 countries, have recently conducted research into the location of job searches and postings across the world. From this, they have built up a wealth of knowledge as to where jobs are searched for and posted, leading to a number of interesting results emerging in regards to both the UK and European jobs markets.

The report tracked the number of external candidates searching for jobs within countries, as well as their preferred location and the amount of people searching overseas for work. In looking at the report, we focused on the results of the UK and European markets.

Perhaps the most interesting result in the survey is that the UK is the third highest country in terms of people’s desire to work there globally. There are further results, such as the number of external searches within a country, and searches from within that country externally, in the full article.
