Senior Study Director – Yorkshire

Naynesh Mistry at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Senior Study Director – (Protein Chemistry) to join a leading pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical company based in Yorkshire on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Study Director will manage complex customer programmes with multiple studies and/or have managerial responsibilities for other Study Directors. They will focus on development, coaching and key line management responsibilities

As a Senior Study Director you will:

  • Ensure that the study is performed in accordance with the study protocol
  • Ensure that the study is performed to the required scientific and regulatory standards
  • In depth and up to date knowledge of UK/OECD GXP regulations as applicable, SD roles and responsibilities, organisation of multi-site studies
  • Holds start-up and on-going study meetings
  • To be aware at all times of study status and anticipate problems that may affect timing, quality etc taking appropriate action to resolve such problems
  • Ensure that all study communication is documented and maintained and carried out to meet client requirements
  • Demonstrates knowledge of client requirements and plans accordingly (timelines, critical deadlines etc)
  • Provides client feedback to team
  • Produces study protocols and reports to meet client and regulatory requirements
  • In depth knowledge of relevant assays, able to advise internal/external clients on study designs
  • Development, coaching and management of study directors

Qualifications and skills:

The successful candidate for this Senior Study Director role will have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • Degree in Life Science, BSc, MSc, Ph.D or equivalent
  • Candidates are expected to have relevant experience (study directing, management of analytical teams or project management and other Study Directors) in a regulatory environment (GLP/GCP/GMP).
  • In addition, experience of client management and technical expertise in a relevant scientific arena is required.
  • Experience of client management and technical expertise in large molecules.
  • Experience within industry
  • A sound working knowledge of ‘Good Laboratory Practice’ and ‘Good Manufacturing Practice’ would be advantageous.

Site Chemist Job in Worcestershire, UK

Victoria Walker at CK Science is recruiting for a Site Chemist to join a hazardous waste and environmental company based in Worcestershire on a full time, permanent basis.

 

Site Chemist Job Description:

As a Site Chemist, the main purpose of your role will be to work in conjunction with the Site Manager running a busy Transfer Station.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Arranging Outgoing and Incoming Loads if required
  • Working with other site Chemists and operatives in the yard bulking and palletising loads
  • Adhering to Company procedures as set out
  • Stock Control as set out by P.P.C Permit
  • All H&S issues for staff reporting to the Site Manager
  • Daily inspections, logs, and signage in the transfer station
  • Cover for other Chemists during holidays
  • Preparing reports for the Site Manager
  • Liaising with Group Transport for any requirements
  • Completing all paperwork required
  • Working with all regulations set out by the HSE, EA and any other regulatory board
  • Dealing with all Non Conforming Loads as set out in Procedures

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

As a Site Chemist, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in Chemistry ideally, HND or equivalent in chemistry as a minimum
  • Driving Licence – essential requirement
  • A good command of the English language
  • WAMITAB C.O.T.C Level 4 in Transfer and Treatment Hazardous Wastes – advantageous
  • Computer Literate
  • Fork Lift Licence advantageous
  • IOSH or NEBOSH H&S Qualification advantageous
  • Experience working in a busy Hazardous Waste Transfer Station required (or within QC as a minimum)

 

Useful Information:

As Site Chemist you will be working with a hazardous waste and environmental company based in Worcestershire.

  • Normal Working Hours will be 0800-1700
  • Extra Hours may be required in order to complete the job.
  • HND chemistry is a minimum requirement to be considered for this role
  • A valid driving licence is an essential requirement for this role

£2.8 billion renewable energy investment in Scotland

Scottish Development International has reported that Scotland’s renewable energy industry has attracted £2.8 billion capital investment since 2009.

Onshore wind accounts for 57 percent of total investment with 21 percent going to offshore wind. The rest of the investment has been deivded between wave and tidal energy, solar photovoltaic, hydro energy, landfill gas and biofuels.

Niall Stuart, chief executive of Scottish Renewables said “These figures show Scotland’s renewables industry is very much bucking the economic trend.  During the downturn our industry has delivered some £2.8bn of much needed capital investment in our economy.  This has helped to grow the supply chain, secure the future of many companies and support more than 11,000 jobs”

Laboratory Manager (Water) – Cambridgeshire

Andrew Bolton at CK Science is currently looking for a Laboratory Manager to join an industry leading Water Testing Laboratory at their site in Cambridgeshire on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

As a Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team within an Analytical Testing / Chemistry laboratory providing water testing services. Your duties will include:

  • Day-to-day people management of a medium sized (10 – 14 people) team of Technicians and Analysts including recruitment, training & personal development when required.
  • Ensuring sample turnaround including liaising closely with customers throughout the process.
  • Maintaining a hands on involvement in analytical testing using techniques such as ICP, GC, MS, AAS & a scope of wet chemistry, coupled with more specialist testing such as cryptosporidium analysis.
  • Performing method development and validation of equipment used.
  • Ensuring quality systems & documentation are maintained (ISO, DWI).

Qualifications and skills:

As a Laboratory Manager, you will have the following qualifications, skills & experience:

  • A qualification in Chemistry or a relevant discipline (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in an analytical testing laboratory. Specific experience in the Water industry would be highly advantageous, but it is not essential.
  • Proven people supervisory / team leader experience.

Chemical Regulatory Specialist – Hertfordshire

Responsibilities:

As the Chemical Regulatory Specialist, you will be responsible for management of new & changing regulations (incl. REACH & TSCA) and advising & supporting the relevant teams across the business. Your duties will include:

  • Responsible for developing new product designs and implementing their scale up through to commercial production.

  • A specialism in chemical/process engineering or development chemistry

  • Computer literate, ideally you will have a working knowledge of the following: coating techniques, drying, fluid processing and web handling, preferably gained in a similar process industry.

Further responsibilities of this Metallography Specialist Technician will include:

  • Preparing steel- and nickel alloy-samples
  • Polishing samples to mirror finishe
  • Acid etching samples
  • Performing metallographic examination and evaluation/ reporting

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

As a Metallography Specialist Technician, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Ideally qualified within metallography
  • Experience within a metallography environment or test laboratory
  • Alternatively will consider a bright metallography graduate or equivalent
  • Must be confident and ambitious

 

The Company and Benefits:

As Metallography Specialist Technician you will be working with a metals supplier based in Sheffield.

  • Full time, permanent role – 8am-4.30pm with occasional overtime
  • 20 days holiday + statutory holidays, rising with service
  • Pension scheme, eligible after 1 year’s service

Jason Johal at CK Science is recruiting for a Pharmaceutical Technical Executive to join an international speciality Pharmaceutical company based in London on a 6 month initial contract.

The Role:

As Pharmaceutical Technical Executive you will:

– Provide a technical support service to the Medical and Regulatory Affairs Unit

– Advise on all relevant product issues

– Approve technical documentation provided by third parties

– Investigate and resolve technical issues from manufacturers

– Be involved in site transfer projects

– Be responsible for compliance documents

– Be responsible for expert document writing

– Apply for licences

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The successful Pharmaceutical Technical Executive will have the following qualifications, skills & experiences:

– BSc in Pharmacy or Chemistry or equivalent

– Relevant technical experience gained in the pharmaceutical industry

– Regulatory experience of CMC documentation (essential)

– Manufacturing experience (essential)

– CMC sections experience

– Document control experience (essential)

– Regulatory knowledge needed including regulatory licensing

– Product development experience

– Technical knowledge across a range of dosage forms (tableting experience is essential)

– Auditing experience

– Problem solving experience (essential)

– Experience dealing with 3rd party manufacturers (advantageous)

– Technical Transfer knowledge

– API & Finished product experience

Microbiologist Job in Tyne and Wear, County Durham

Barney Smith at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Microbiologist to join a pharmaceutical company based in the Tyne and Wear and County Durham on a permanent basis.

Microbiologist Job Description:

As a Microbiologist you will be responsible for taking environmental swabs, plate culturing, passive and active air sampling, cell culture and microbe monitoring using catylase and oxydase tests.  You will also be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of QA procedures.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

As a microbiologist you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified in microbiology or related subject or possess equivalent industrial experience
  • A proven track record working in an aseptic laboratory as a microbiologist within a GMP environment
