Our client is a diagnostics and manufacturing company based in Northern Scotland. They require a product development specialist with protein stabilisation experience to join their team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

A Product Development Scientist, you will provide expertise in the development of diagnostic technologies for cardiac tests, to contribute practically; with a hands-on approach, to the optimisation of assay formats and stabilisation of dried enzymatic based assay architecture to GMP/GLP standards.

You will work in a team to develop a stable reagent formulation to 12 months refrigerated stability, optimise assays to improve clinical performance of products and design in product and process robustness, and demonstrate this through (DoE). You will also develop products to design control while adhering to regulatory bodies. You must be able to ensure ELN records are accurate and present data in meetings to peers and be confident communicating to superior managers. Your role will also involve developing project management and planning skills to belay technicians where necessary.

Requirements:

You must be actively involved in the design and optimisation of immunoassays to improve room temperature stability and reduce (ATE) to an acceptable level. You must also be educated to degree level in an appropriate scientific discipline or possess equivalent commercial experience, and have excellent knowledge and understanding of protein biochemistry and the ability to apply analytical measurements in the IVD industry.Experience in working GMP/GLP standards are essential.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this Protein Scientist position will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • The ability to undertake a range of routine and investigative analyses including sample preparation and interpretation of results, primarily by MS but may also include other classical protein chemistry techniques.
  • The ability provide high quality customer service by ensuring effective workflow within the assigned area of responsibility, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
  • The ability to manage client queries, produce accurate quotations and ensure client’s expectations are achieved.
  • You will be well organised and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently and will have meticulous attention to detail.
  • You will also have the ability to take responsibility for projects and the ability to be able to discuss, problem solve/troubleshoot clients’ specific needs and deal with client queries as appropriate.
  • Educated Degree level in a relevant scientific discipline (or equivalent) and will have an in-depth understanding of protein structure-function and glycan structures and experience in discovery, development and/or structural elucidation of proteins.
  • Demonstrable relevant laboratory experience in protein and glycoprotein analysis by MS including amino acid sequence analysis, peptide mapping, glycan characterisation and identification of other post-translational modifications is essential.
  • Demonstrable relevant laboratory experience in proteomics or metabolomics analysis using mass spectrometry is highly desirable as is experience of working to GMP.

  • Ensuring client Quality activities are managed and met appropriately.

 

As Quality Engineering Manager, you will also be responsible for proposing what decisions should be made within the section and what needs to be referred. You will be able to make decisions within your own function, under pressure including unpopular decisions and will be able to prioritise your own and others activities to achieve deadlines.

The role will be 80% office based and 20% Inter-site based so travel between sites will be required

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will hold a degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate Science or Engineering discipline and will have worked for Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device companies or a similarly regulated Engineering company. It is essential that they have substantial experience gained from previous roles, one of which should have been in a Medical Devices role.

The ideal candidate will be proactive in providing innovative solutions and evaluating alternatives, will be able to apply a systematic/logical approach taking in to account information from a variety of sources and will be able to deal with complex problems. Quality Management experience is essential and it will be expected that you will be the “expert” others will go to.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be presenting complex information and concepts in a way that is simple and easy to understand and you will also promote new strategies and ensure practical policies, procedures and business direction are implemented.

You will also provide QP GMP declarations in support of importation activities and will be expected to maintain an up to date awareness of regulatory issues.

Person Specification:

It is essential that you are a fully qualified QP and that you are experienced with final certification/release within the EU. Quality systems management, audit experience (internal and external) and a strong EU regulatory understanding are also essential for this role. A good knowledge of Quality Systems (compliance, CAPA, continuous improvement) and importation would be advantageous.

The ideal person will have the experience and the confidence to interact with QA and Regulatory teams and will have the strength of character to guide teams of professionals. Generics QP experience would be adistinct advantage but applications from QPs that have had exposure to a broad range of activities are welcome.

Formulations Chemist Job – Hertfordshire, UK

CK Science are currently recruiting for a Formulations Chemist to assist in the development of both topical pharmaceutical (for OTC and ethical markets) and cosmetic products.

The position will include laboratory-scale formulation development, the scale-up of potential formulations in a pilot facility, and involvement with technology transfer of development products into commercial manufacture in accordance with GMP.

Day to day you will be working on formulation development for new and existing products and monitoring them for physical/emulsion stability, pH and viscosity to find the optimum formulation. You will prepare supplies of Development Products for Accelerated Stability Studies by conducting manufacturing on a small scale for accelerated stability trials in a range of packaging materials and you will also prepare supplies of Development Products for Stability/Clinical Studies by manufacturing on a larger scale (up to 100 kg) at a pilot facility.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree/diploma or equivalent in a scientific discipline and will have Formulation experience gained preferably in pharmaceuticals/cosmetics or other skincare products. They will also have an appreciation of working in a GMP environment. Experience in the preparation of a range of new product formulations such as creams, gels, lotions and shampoos would be highly advantageous. Qualified Person Job – Hertfordshire, UK

CK Science are working exclusively on an assignment for a Qualified Person to join a global Pharma company based in Hertfordshire.

The company work on discovery of new molecules both NCEs and NBEs, in the branded generics markets and they also market APIs. They employ 6000 people in over 80 countries and have twelve manufacturing facilities and five R&D centres across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. They are currently selling products in over 70 countries and are one of the most exciting and expanding pharma companies in the world today.

Responsibilities:

This role is based in the Generics  arm of the business and you will act as a Qualified Person in accordance with EU GMP to provide final certification/release along with Quality Assurance a Regulatory support. You will perform audits of third party providers in order to ensure EU GMP standards have been achieved and will support the internal audit programme to enable permanent inspection readiness. You will also provide QP GMP declarations in support of importation activities and will be expected to maintain an up to date awareness of regulatory issues.

 

Qualifications and experience:

It is essential that you are a fully qualified QP and that you are experienced with final certification/release within the EU. Quality systems management, audit experience (internal and external) and a strong EU regulatory understanding are also essential for this role. A good knowledge of Quality Systems (compliance, CAPA, continuous improvement) and importation would be advantageous.

The ideal person will have the experience and the confidence to interact with QA and Regulatory teams and will have the strength of character to guide teams of professionals. Generics QP experience would be adistinct advantage but applications from QPs that have had exposure to a broad range of activities are welcome. 

This is a key role for the company and is a sign of their ambition for the future. The position is full time, permanent and it is envisaged that the role will be based on site.

QC Team Leader Job, Essex, UK

 

We are currently looking for a Team Leader for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to join this leading healthcare / pharmaceutical company in the Essex region.

Responsibilities:

As a QC Team Leader, you  will be responsible for the testing of raw materials, bulk and finished products.  You will also lead the Laboratory Team and manage their daily work schedules, ensure that all laboratory  facilities are  operated  to  appropriate  Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.

You will be working closely with Quality Assurance to ensure that the laboratory  facilities are operated and maintained according to regulatory, customer and internal requirements. You will also be involved with managing all analytical method development and laboratory validation requirements, and input to general validation operations of the site.

Person Specification:

To be considered for this role you will have a BSc in Chemical/Biological discipline or equivalent. Previous experience working within a pharmaceutical GMP/GLP environment and HPLC, GC skills, including method development is essential.

Reporting to the Quality compliance leader, you will participate in all aspects of compliance activities including promotion of compliance to staff, hosting visits by FDA or MHRA, maintaining the site quality management and audit systems and support regulatory related activities as and when required. 

The ideal candidate for this Quality Compliance Officer must be qualified to minimum HNC/HND level in a pharmaceutical based scientific subject or possess equivalent industrial experience and have some experience working within a compliance environment, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
