Founded in 1930, Pira International employs approximately 120 people at five sites across the UK and US.

Pfizer Chief Announces Early Retirement

As reported by the Telegraph, the chief of the global pharmaceutical company, Pfizer has announced his plans to take early retirement.

Jeff Kindler, who has held the position of chief executive since 2006, stated that “the combination of meeting the requirements of our many stakeholders around the world and the 24/7 nature of my responsibilities, has made this period extremely demanding on me personally”.

It is planned that the head of Pfizer’s biopharmaceuticals business, Ian C Reed will be succeeding Mr Kindler.

Under Kindler’s stewardship, the pharmaceutical company shed more than 14,000 jobs, as well as closing manufacturing plants. The company also paid $68bn (£43bn) for rival Wyeth last year in an effort to invigorate its pipeline of new products.

Your duties will include creation and implementation of preclinical toxicology/ADME plans; development of safety assessment plans; approval of methodology, protocols and final study reports; project management activities related to preclinical work product (timeline, scope, budget, risk mitigation, contingency plans) as well as working closely with quality and regulatory to prepare nonclinical ADME safety pharmacology and toxicology sections of IB, INDs, CTD, IMPDs and other regulatory documentation.

Japanese Buyer for Genzyme’s Diagnostic Unit

Genzyme’s diagnostic products division has approximately 575 employees in North America, the U.K. and Germany. Sekisui Chemicals hope to buy the division by December this year.

Sekisui and Genzyme have been cooperating in diagnostic product operations since 1995.
