A day in the life of a Quality Control Technician

We recently interviewed one of our contractors, Nicole, to find out what it’s like to work as a Quality Control Technician. We asked what a general day involves, what experience and qualification are required for this job and what advice she would give to aspiring Quality Control Technicians.

Q1. What industry do you work in?

I work in the aviation industry.

Q2. What is your background?

My qualifications are unrelated to this subject, although I have 2 years previous experience as a laboratory assistant.

 

Q3. What does your job involve?

Testing the quality of the materials produced within the factory to ensure that they meet customer specifications and expectations before they are released.

 

Q4. What is a typical day like in your role?

Extremely busy, the time flys.

 

Q5. How did you get into your current job role?

Relative experience was necessary. Qualifications were desirable.

 

Q6. What do you enjoy most about your job?

Keeping my hands busy throughout the day, there’s no time to be bored of what you’re doing.

 

Q7. What is the hardest part of your job?

Prolonged amount of standing.

 

Q8. Why did you decide to pursue this career?

Because I had gained previous experience by chance and chose to act on my strengths.

 

Q9. What can this type of job lead on to?

Quality assurance roles, team leader roles etc.

 

Q10. What advice would you give to somebody considering this role as a career?

Be willing to work the overtime when necessary.
