A
s reported by the BBC, UK and Irish ministers will today sign an agreement that will mean the some of the world’s largest wind turbines built across the Irish midlands.
According to this proposed agreement hundreds of wind turbines will be erected across the boggy midlands of Ireland. The power generated would be transferred to the UK via undersea cables that would join the grid at two points in Wales. These turbines will be 180 meters tall and they will generate energy for millions of UK homes from 2017.
The developers of the project say that thousands of renewable energy jobs and environmental jobs will be created in Ireland and the economy as a whole will benefit.
