Product Development Chemist – Scotland

Barney Smith at CK Science is recruiting for a Product development Chemist to join a company that manufactures novel products for the Oil & Gas industry

Responsibilities:

As a Product development Chemist you will be responsible for developing rubber based polymers to customer specifications and requirements.  This will include developing polymers from scratch, developing existing products, compounding, sourcing and maintaining test equipment and providing technical support to clients. 

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate for this Product development Chemist must be qualified to PhD in organic or polymer chemistry standard or possess equivalent commercial laboratory experience within rubber or plastics development.  They must also possess working knowledge of instrumentation and equipment used in rubber development and compounding and your communication skills must be excellent.

Technical Sales Manager (Carbon Black, Rubber) – Bedfordshire, UK

A Technical Sales Manager is required to join the Commercial facilities team of a niche specialist within the Polymer Chemical industry based in Bedfordshire, UK.

This Technical Sales Manager job is initially on an ongoing long term basis (approx 6-12 months+), with a strong possibility of going permanent.

As Technical Sales Director, you will join the Senior Management Team and will report directly to the Managing Director (MD). You will be responsible for new business development, marketing and contract negotiation surrounding their range of carbon black based materials.

As the organization is in its infancy, this Technical Sales Manager role will entail mainly new business development within the Carbon Black, Oil & Gas, Rubber and other related Chemical and/or Polymer based industries.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a niche specialist organisation in a position that is integral to their growth. In return they offer a very attractive salary and benefits package.

To be considered for this Technical Sales Manager role, you will have a demonstrated background within a Technical Sales or Business Development function within a related industry such as the Tyre, Rubber, Bulk Chemical or a related Chemical or Polymer Industry. Development Manager (Compounding and Manufacturing) based in the North of Scotland

Our client, a global organisation providing field-proven solutions to the oil and gas industry, are currently looking for a Development Manager to join their team based in the North of Scotland. The purpose of this Development Manager role is to develop the compounding and manufacturing process for elastomer based products on a global scale.

Further responsibilities of this Compounding and Manufacturing Manager role include:

  • Developing manufacturing strategies (both compound mixing and product manufacturing) on a global level to ensure that products are continually supplied to required quality, delivery and cost levels.
  • Direct liaison and negotiating with potential manufacturing vendors/partners to allow for controlled expansion of the global manufacturing footprint.
  • Providing technical expertise to the R&D / Engineering / Supply Chain teams and specialised third parties in relation to compound development and enhancement.
  • Providing professional documentation and training for the efficient knowledge transfer to the Supply Chain when appropriate.
  • To be able and willing to travel to any location if required to do so due to operational manufacturing needs.
  • Developing relationships with compounding and manufacturing facilities.
  • Assisting with continuous improvement plans relating to new compounding & manufacturing processes and techniques.

The successful candidate will be qualified to minimum HND in chemistry or equivalent industrial experience and have a proven track record of working in compounding and manufacture of elastomers. You must also possess some managerial or supervisory experience. Entitlement to work in the EEA is essential.
