Senior Protein Scientist LCMS Role – Berkshire

We are currently recruiting for a “Pharmaceutical” Senior Scientist in Protein Chemistry LC-MS to join a Pharmaceutical Laboratory based a commutable distance from London in Berkshire, which performs a wide range of analytical contracts for a variety of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Protein Scientist LCMS the ideal candidate will lead and perform a range of routine and investigative analyses applying their expertise in the MS analysis of proteins, peptides and PTMs, whilst working to GMP quality standards.

The role of Senior Scientist is to undertake a combined supervisory and practical role within defined business areas of the Biotech sector.  They will be working in a cross functional role in the Biotech sector which spans the Pharmaceutical laboratory, DNA and Protein laboratory and others but be based in the Pharmaceutical laboratory.  They will be expected to play a key role in ensuring that delegated projects are managed effectively and that the customer’s requirements and contractual agreement are fulfilled in a timely manner.

They will contribute to the pharmaceutical business through leading and growing the LC-MS protein chemistry area by application of your expert knowledge whilst working to GMP quality standards.  The role will involve performing, checking, supervising and training in your area of expertise in a range of routine and specialised analyses.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate for this Senior Protein Scientist LCMS role will be educated to degree level in a relevant scientific discipline (or equivalent) and will have an in depth understanding of protein structure-function and glycan structures. They will have demonstrable relevant laboratory experience in protein and glycoprotein analysis by MS including amino acid sequence analysis, peptide mapping, glycan characterisation and identification of other post-translational modifications. They will also have experience in discovery, development and/or structural elucidation of proteins.

Strong project management skills (including project plans, updates, flagging problems on time, etc) will be required as will a flexibility and adaptability to meet customer/business requirements. They will be well organised with the capability of working on multiple activities concurrently and will have meticulous attention to detail. Experience of working to GMP is highly desirable.

Protein Scientist based in the Central Belt of Scotland

Our client a major biotechnology company based in the Central Belt of Scotland is looking for a permanent Protein Scientist.

Working as a Protein Scientist, you will join a busy team working on scale-up and GMP manufacture of protein conjugates. You will synthesise protein conjugates and develop purification protocoal, using HPLC based techniques for characterisation. You will also participate in writing process instruction sheets for manufacturing, validating processes and equipment and in technical support of manufacturing activities.

To be considered for this Protein Scientist role you will have a good understanding of general protein handling techniques is required, together with an appropriate qualification in Biochemistry or similar. Entitlement to work in the UK is essential.

Senior Protein Formulation Scientist based in Cambridge, UK

An exciting Senior Protein Formulation Scientist job has arisen at a global biologics unit based at a state-of-the-art Cambridge site. This site is home to around 390 employees, and serves as our client’s European hub for research and development.

This innovative company is committed to developing better medicines that help people live healthier, longer and more satisfying lives. The company’s main specialisms are focused on the areas of infection, respiratory and inflammatory disease, oncology and neuroscience.

Working as a Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating and directing a team of scientists performing analytical work associated with the formulation development of proteins. You will ideally have a Biological Sciences related PhD, preferably with a strong biochemical component. You will also have a strong background in practical Laboratory industrial experience, preferably with protein analytical components. Additional requirements for this Senior Research Scientist role include:

  • Practical experience preferred of at least some of the following techniques: SDS-PAGE, Isoelectric Focussing, HPLC, UV-vis spectrophotometry, ELISA, fluorescence, DSC, general protein chemistry methodologies
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics
  • Good practical ability within a laboratory environment
  • Good management experience
  • Computer literate
  • A team player with excellent communication and organizational skills
