Team Leader – North West

Naynesh Mistry at CK Science is looking to recruit a Team Leader to join a laboratory services company to work at their site in the North West on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of this Team Leader role will include:

  • To provide the supervised running of the haematology section.
  • To use established methods to analyse samples by automated and manual techniques.
  • To perform differential cell counts and assess cell morphology by microscopy.
  • To evaluate methods, reagents and equipment for use in the haematology section.
  • To assist in the preparation for cytological examination of body fluids and aspirates.
  • To participate in and monitor performance in external and internal quality assurance schemes.
  • To maintain reagent and consumable stocks and their correct storage.
  • To maintain the standard operating procedure manual for haematology.
  • To participate in the training of junior and other members of staff in haematological techniques.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate for this Team Leader role must have a degree or HNC in appropriate subject and Membership of professional organisation. It is essential that the post holder must have a sound working knowledge of haematology with practical laboratory skills and the ability to organise work schedules and analytical methods.

Senior R&D Scientist – North West

Naynesh Mistry at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Senior R&D Scientist to join a leading manufacturer and supplier of clinical microbiology instrumentation in their product development team on a permanent basis in the North West

 

Job Summary:

This Senior R&D Scientist role will be to conduct research into and develop a wide range of new products for diagnostic microbiology with an emphasis on establishing novel molecular diagnostics.

 

Purpose/Objective:

As a Senior R&D Scientist you will carry out investigations related to both the improvement of existing products, and the improvement of manufacturing procedures and resolution of manufacturing problems, as well as working towards the achievement of recognition of significant new products through publication and presentation of external evaluations.

The primary focus of research will be the development of novel targets and probes for pathogenic micro-organisms with an emphasis on pathogens in human clinical disease.

The successful applicant will be expected to play a leading role in the development of a portfolio of molecular assays integrating a novel platform with forefront diagnostic assay. 

 

Qualifications and skills required:

The ideal candidate for this Senior R&D Scientist role will have a knowledge of nucleic amplification and extraction techniques is essential, combined with experience in conventional microbiological diagnostic methods.  Experience of primer design and bioinformatics software and databases would be advantageous

Ideally, candidates should have MSc or PhD in appropriate discipline or equivalent, as well as experience in commercial and/or academic research facilities, and be committed to continuous learning and professional development.

Design Engineer Jobs x4 (Plastics, Polymers & Material) – North West

Victoria Walker at CK Science is currently looking to recruit 4 Design Engineers to join a research and development organisation designing new products primarily focused for the offshore oil and gas industry. This role will be based in the North West on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

The main roles and responsibilities of these Design Engineer positions will be to complete all design engineering work allocated by a Product Design Manager in an efficient and timely manner. You will work with the Engineering Team’s Draughts people to ensure that drawings fully comply with the Customer’s requirements and are in line with the company standard procedures. You are also required to work with other Design Engineers to ensure that design documentation fully complies with the Customer’s requirements and is in line with the company standard procedures.

These will be your responsibility-

  • Supporting the Engineering Resource Manager to provide design engineering cover.
  • Performing design engineering activities within the Customer Groups on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure that all products are designed in accordance with customer requirements, company practice and recognized engineering standards.
  • Improving product design methods and procedures.
  • Generating technical presentations for either internal or external purposes.
  • Ensuring information in drawings and documentation is both correct and complete.
  • Providing technical support for products associated with all Customer Group activities and production plant and equipment if required.
  • Assisting in the communication of technical data to Customers and sub-contractors.
  • Interfacing with Supply Chain and Operations as required.

Qualification and skills:

In order to be considered for these Design Engineer roles you will hold a minimum of BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or a related subject, ideally MEng qualified. You will have proved experience within industry of working effectively on more than one project at a time, communicating effectively, building good relationships and working well within a multi-disciplined team.

You will be confident in solving engineering problems and will think beyond analyses and drawings, as well as learning about new products and adapting new ideas quickly and accurately. You will work in a logical and analytical manner and will have prior experience of working in a manufacturing industry performing analytical calculations. This role will be primarily office-based and may involve international travel for short durations at short notice – eligibility to travel overseas is required. You may be required to work out-of-hours to accommodate time zone variations.

Master Scheduler Job (Pharmaceuticals) – North West, UK

Our client is a global manufacturer of pharmaceuticals and is currently looking for a Master Scheduler to be based in the North West, UK.

The overall job purpose includes:

  • To ensure a high level Master Production Schedule (MPS) is developed for assigned product(s) to meet customer requirements.
  • To ensure inventory is effectively managed.
  • To support key supply chain projects which will have an impact on strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities of this Master Scheduler position will include:

• Design and maintain a 24 month Master Production schedule for assigned products to ensure fulfilment of customer demands. (Monthly activity)

• Liaise with a wide variety of internal and external work centres e.g. Production, labs, QA, warehouse to obtain buy in to schedule. Communicate the plan to all levels of the organisation.

• Drive performance improvements and be responsible for OSSCE Class A performance for assigned products

• Manage changes in demand and drive resolution of capacity constraints within the work centres.

• Manage inventory levels

• Provide technical coaching and support to scheduler buyers

• Influence and participate in Site and Global Supply Chain initiatives

• Facilitate market related changes encompassing all aspects of materials, packaging and production changes.

 

Required Experience:

The ideal candidate for this Master Scheduler position will have several years experience in a Pharmaceutical FDA regulated environment. An understanding of Supply Chain and Quality systems is also required.

To be considered for this Master Scheduler role you will have the following skills:

  • Excellent influencing and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage a variety of conflicting demands to meet clearly defined goals
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation both internally and externally e.g. Contract Manufacturers
  • Discipline to meet deadlines

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in Scheduling/Planning or related function
  • Knowledge of OSSCE processes e.g. MRP
  • Previous experience in project management/ leading change
  • Supplier management experience

Our client, an industry leading Specialty Chemical organisation, are currently looking for an Analytical Chemist for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to join their state of the art laboratories.
Working alongside a team of inorganic chemists you will be involved in analysis of precious metals and advanced materials. You will use analytical techniques including ICP/OES, AAS, GFASS, XRF, Fire Assay and more.
To be considered for this role, you will have a BSc in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry or a related discipline (or equivalent).
