Medical Device Technologist Job – Oxfordshire, UK

CK Science are currently searching for a Medical Device Technologist to join a global Medical Device company based in Oxfordshire, UK.

 

Responsibilities:

As Medical Device Technologist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support to the NPI (New Product Introduction) for the diabetes strip-manufacturing unit and supporting the unit to maintain production output and yields.
  • Ensuring the analysis and interpretation of measurements in process and release test data, identify potential areas of inefficiency to drive continuous process, product, cost and quality improvements in the manufacturing unit.
  • You will also ensure all work carried out in compliance with the correct processes and procedures and take ownership of assigned ER’s CAPA’s and VMP activities.

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this Medical Device Technologist role you will have a degree qualification in a scientific/engineering discipline (or equivalent). Previous knowledge of relevant processes, test methods, analytical techniques, experimental design, data analysis and statistical process control would be advantageous. You will have a good understanding of the concept and importance of GMP. Have excellent communication and IT skills.

Medical Device Design Engineer Job – (Temporary Contract) – Hertfordshire, UK

Our client is looking for a Medical Device Design Engineer who will be able to lead the design of pharmaceutical delivery devices. This Medical Device Design Engineer position will be based in Hertfordshire, UK.

The ideal candidate for this Medical Device Design Engineer will therefore be a senior mechanical design engineer, with experience of medical device design, mechanisms and the detail design of plastic injection moulded components for high-speed assembly.

The candidate will be able to create innovative design solutions and develop these into robust products using CAD (solidWorks, Pro-E), FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and tolerance analysis software. The level of CAD competency will be to an advanced surfacing level with a good understanding of top down design. It will be necessary to have good communication skills in order to both present and review designs with suppliers, customers and team members.

To be considered for this Medical Device Design Engineer position, you will possess a HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering with Wildfire 4 (essential), Ansys Workbench v12 (preferable) and CETOL 6d v8.1 (preferable)

Abbott Laboratories May Sell Vaccines Business

Pills, syringe and thermometer.As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Abbott Laboratories, the drug and medical device manufacturer, is considering selling its vaccine business.

The news comes just months after Abbot t purchased the pharmaceutical unit of Belgium company, Solvay in February for $6.2 billion.

The purchase of Solvay granted Abbott access to the emerging markets in Eastern Europe and Asia along with new therapeutic areas, including hormone therapies and vaccines.

Shares of Abbott fell 63 cents to $46.55 in afternoon trading.

It is expected that pharmaceutical industry giants such as GlaxoSmithKline and AstraZeneca may enter a bidding war for the vaccines business.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Leeds, UK

A Mechanical Design Engineer is required for a large multinational organisation involved in the treatment of musculoskeletal systems based in Leeds, UK.


Our client is a large multinational organisation involved in the treatment of musculoskeletal systems with products that include joint implants, trauma devices and biologic products. The company are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in medical devices for a contract initially running for 12 months.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be working with 4/5 permanent Bioengineers, 4/5 permanent Knee design staff and 4/5 contract knee design engineers.

Working as a Mechanical Design Engineer your main roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Create and manage Engineering Change Orders.
  • Undertake mechanical/numerical analysis.
  • Participate in the systematic review of function and value analysis.
  • Participation in development projects.
  • Assume responsibility for own design commitments & delivering to agreed timescales in line with project plans. Take ownership of design related changes, working with other team members to ensure they are completed and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Undertake more detailed/extensive research.
  • Participate in cross functional projects.
  • Generate data and reports required for the design section of the development history files (DHF).
  • Participate in Design FMEA’s and the companies Risk Management Process.
  • Liaise with and supervise vendors contracted to supply design related information to the company.
  • Recommend inputs to and adhere to Product Design specifications such as Style Guides and other Industrial Design inputs.
  • Work to aggressive product and project cost targets
  • Working as part of a Global Project Core Team with its inherent communication and cultural challenges.

The ideal candidate for this Mechanical Design Engineer job will experience in a medical devices design role and will have a degree or equivalent in Mechanical Design Engineering. You will also have experience in the use of Siemens NX/UnigraphicsCAD design.

Interviews for this role will commence w/c 17th May and successful candidate/s will start in the proceeding 2 weeks. It is essential you are available to start work in this time frame.

Sterile Liquid R&D Manager based in London, UK

Our client, an MHRA licensed pharmaceutical manufacturing organization, are currently seeking a Research & Development Manager to join their team based in London. The company produce off licence Specials, licensed medicinal products and medical devices and specialise in the manufacture and development of sterile liquid products in a variety of presentations.

Working as a Sterile R&D Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Pharmaceutical manufacturing unit’s research and development strategy. Main responsibilities of this research and development role will include:

  • To be a participating member of the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Committee.
  • To assist in the commissioning and validation of premises, plant, equipment and processes.
  • Responsible for training staff in Good Control Laboratory Practice and other matters relating to Research and Development
  • To deputise for the QC Laboratory Manager in the day to day running of the Quality Control Laboratory and in his/her absence to be responsible for assessing the results of testing on raw materials, packaging components and intermediate solutions and if the standard is satisfactory to release them for further processing.
  • To co-operate with the QC Laboratory Manager to achieve the most cost effective use of equipment and resources
  • To manage R&D budget with agreed target
  • To assist the Quality Assurance Officer in the formulation of new ophthalmic Medicinal Products and Medical Devices.

The ideal candidate will be a strong analytical chemist with proven experience and the ability to develop new analytical testing methods for new products, trouble shoot and improve existing methods. It is essential that you have experience with Sterile Liquids gained in the Pharmaceutical industry and a good business and technical understanding of new technology in analytical chemistry would be preferred. Any experience with Ophthalmology would be highly advantageous.
