Intertek have stated that the establishment of the laboratory came about in direct response to an increase in demand from customers in the region, including textile manufacturers, suppliers and exporters, for efficient, cost-effective quality and safety testing to enable them to meet increasingly stringent international standards and regulations.

The new laboratory provides innovative services, including fibre identification, feather and down testing, flammability, care label instruction, performance testing and eco-textile certification. In addition to testing services, Intertek’s Korea laboratory also offers consultation and training services.

It  is strategically positioned close to the manufacturing sites and customers’ buying offices – this will allow the company to respond to the ever-changing textile and apparel regulations, as well as global industry standards.

A spokeswoman from the University of Liverpool stated, The development will support research in three key areas in which Liverpool already has an international standing – infectious diseases, cancer, and digestive diseases.

“The facility will provide an inter-disciplinary research environment to enable scientists to contribute more effectively to the major health challenges of the 21st century.”

The research teams which will mobve into the new laboraotry currently work in the Duncan Building and the University Clinical Development Department – both parts of the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

The Purification Scientist will be responsible for the following:

• The technical transfer of downstream processes for microbial, mammalian and viral products.
• Reviewing technical development information and translates this information into a cGMP compliant manufacturing process
• Prepare manufacturing instructions and specifications
• Manufacture the products within the cGMP production facility to meet customer timelines
• Plan and organise downstream manufacturing campaigns for the team and lead continuous improvement projects as well as routine operations.
