As Product Compliance Head, you will manage the compliance across the 3 production units, ensuring that all aspects of the handling, manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceutical products comply with the requirements of the Quality Manual and Policies and meet all relevant cGMP regulatory and legislative requirements

The purpose of this Product Compliance Head position is to provide technical leadership for the site in all product quality compliance related matters and ensure operational business comply with cGMP legal and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities of this Product Compliance Head job will include:

• Ensure that all aspects of the handling, manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceutical products at the site comply with the requirements of the Pharma Corporate Quality Manual and Policies and meet all relevant cGMP regulatory and legislative requirements.
• Ensure that the local Quality System and Standard Operating Procedures are in place and that compliance with cGMP
• Ensure that a high quality of products is achieved through qualification and validation based upon quality risk analysis.
• Ensure that the QA department maintains an innovative approach based on improvement, implementation of best practice.
• Provide leadership, direction and support to the people within the QA Compliance area and ensure that they are qualified, achieve a high level of competence, are motivated and carry out their duties in a safe manner.
• Maintain current knowledge of local and international regulatory and legislative requirements and trends to ensure that expert advice and appropriate technical support on product quality related matters is provided to the whole site.
• Ensure that all components, drug product containers, closures, in process materials, packaging material, labelling and drug products are released in accordance with the registered specifications.
• Manage complaints, recalls, counterfeits and product tampering according to the company Corporate Quality Manual.

To be considered for this Product Compliance Head position, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• A degree in Sciences or equivalent
• Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control and/or in manufacturing environment within the Pharmaceutical industry.
• Previous experience in API manufacture and ICH guidelines are preferred, however experience within secondary pharmaceutical manufacture will also be considered if you show the technical and managerial skills required for this role.
• Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and be familiar with international guidelines, including FDA and MHRA.

The main aspects of these Analytical Chemists roles is to perform, monitor and accept accountability for all assigned analytical duties relating to specific chemistry and/or analytical projects.  The post holder will hold the following responsibilities:

Lab 21 have announced that that a test of its MycAssay Aspergillus has been successful in detecting IA in a mixed population of 159 patients which had underlying haematological or critical illness.

IA is seen in patients who are immunocompromised which results in some organs being less well protected by the immune system, as the blood supply to them is not as rich. This is usually a hidden, silent disease and early detection could result in greatly improved patient outcomes.

Berwyn Clarke, CSO at Lab21 said: “The results of this evaluation confirm that our new CE-marked assay for the diagnosis of IA represents a first-in-class addition to fungal diagnostics enabling faster, more reliable and sensitive case detection. We are in the process of conducting additional studies to firmly establish its clinical utility in high-risk settings.”

This is great news as current tests often give false-positive or false-negative results. This new data will hopefully be introduced into routine fungal disease guidelines as soon as possible.

• Providing professional, scientific and technical support to laboratory team.

• Liaising with Laboratory Manager to ensure the effective management and delivery of clinical trials within the laboratory to specified commercial and contractual specifications.
• Liaising with Quality Manager, ensure all laboratory staff and systems operate effectively within the Quality Management System.
• Liaising with the Data Manager, ensure the effective management, analysis, control and security of all data generated by or received by the laboratory.

The ideal candidate for this Senior Assay Scientist role will be educated to MSc, or equivalent, in the pharmaceutical, biomedical or life science sectors. Postgraduate bioanalytical and scientific laboratory experience is also desirable, preferably gained within a pharmaceutical, diagnostics or public sector laboratory environment. In addition, a strong track record of achievement in the development of new bioanalytical assays from first principles to implementation within a clinical trial or routine healthcare testing environment is also desirable.

Thirty new laboratories and offices for 300 research scientists are to be built in Norfolk with a £5m investment fund.

The fund of £5m has been provided by the following companies:

• Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) will provide £500,000
• The East of England Development Agency £1.4m
• Greater Norwich Development Partnership £1m
• The University of East Anglia £500,000
• The remainder will come from other Norwich Research Park partners

The aim of the scheme is to attract new science companies to the area and is the first stage of a plan to create 5,000 jobs in research by 2021. The new development is on land donated by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) at Norwich Research Park. There will also be space for new start-ups and for existing firms to expand.

The science facilities are due to open in the summer and will be managed by a new joint venture company Colney Innovations Limited. David Parfrey, BBSRC Director of Finance and Director of Colney Innovations Limited, said: “Within one kilometre of this facility, there are no fewer than 2,700 research scientists focussed on health, food and environmental sciences – a unique resource in this country. By 2021, we plan to create the facilities for 5,000 new science-related jobs on Norwich Research Park which will make Norfolk one of the world’s largest single-site scientific research centres.”

- Supporting the Orals Value Stream by writing and executing validation documents according to a Validation Master plan which aims to drive increased Quality, Compliance and Business Improvements.

- Maintaining the existing validation status via review and revalidation and be part of the team that delivers the Validation Master Plan

- Supporting the Process Support and the Business Improvement Teams team in prospective validation associated with projects,
