Molecular Biologist – Edinburgh

Barney Smith at CK Science is recruiting for a Molecular Biologist to work on 1 year contracts for a contract research organisation based in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities

 As a Molecular Biologist you will be responsible for a team of scientists working on research projects in antibody based technologies such as diagnostics, therapeutics and medical devices. This will include projects involving molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry and specifically phage display and screening of therapeutic and diagnostic antibodies.

Qualifications

 For the Molecular Biologist role you will be qualified to minimum PhD level in molecular biology or possess equivalent commercial research experience and have a proven track record in leading projects for immunology studies.

Operations Manager – Aberdeen

Barney Smith at CK Science is recruiting for an Operations Manager to run a Waste Management facility in Aberdeen. The role is permanent and may involve covering two sites at times.

 Responsibilities

For the Operations Manager role you will be responsible for a team of site chemists, hazpack chemists and Senior Site Chemists. You will also be responsible for:

  • Administration support team and mud and effluent plant staff
  • Ensuring that all site operations run in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner
  • Delivering excellent customer service,
  • Developing effective relationships
  • Providing opportunities to increase revenue
  • Managing all aspects of waste management operations including procedures and quality systems, staff training and management and business strategy.

 Qualifications

For the Operations Manager role, you must have a proven track record in the waste industry in a supervisory or managerial role. You must also hold a minimum HNC in chemistry in order to fulfil IPPC legal requirements and hold a full UK driving licence. A COTC qualification is desirable although not essential.

Protein Scientist – Central Belt of Scotland

Heather Deagle at CK Science is recruiting for a Protein Scientist for a major biotechnology company based in the Central Belt of Scotland, to work on initially a temporary contract that is very likely to go permanent.

Responsibilities:

As a Protein Scientist the key responsibilities will be too:

  • Develop processes for the conjugation, purification and formulation of antibody conjugates
  • Perform process robustness, characterisation and optimisation studies
  • Process scale up and transfer into our GMP facilities
  • Small scale drug linker synthesis

Qualifications and skills:

The successful candidate for this Protein Scientist role will have following qualifications and experience:

  • a minimum of a BSc degree in Biological/Biochemical Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or related discipline with good practical lab experience.
  • You will also have experience / awareness of protein purification techniques such as: Chromatography, Filtration and Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
  • You will also have Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment.

It would be desirable to have the following skills:

  • Previous biotech industry experience in process development or process scale up / manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of protein modification or conjugation chemistry

Analytical Chemist – Aberdeen

The Analytical Chemist role will involve analysis of oil, diesel and drilling fluids using mainly GC although there will be opportunities for working with other instrumentation as and when required.

Technical Manager – Aberdeen

Barney Smith at CK Science is recruiting for a Technical Manager to work at a specialist polymer manufacturing company based in Aberdeen for a permanent role.

Responsibilities:

As a Technical Manager you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to clients globally and offshore.  You will also develop polymer coating using extraction and injection moulding techniques to customer specifications.  The team is small and you will have to be hands on and happy to work any area including QA, QC, or dealing with technical specifications.

Qualification and skills:

As a Technical Manager you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Masters qualified in a polymer processing related subject or equivalent industrial experience
  • A proven track record in extrusion or injection moulding

The job:

This Technical Managers role will in the long term offer worldwide travel and ad hoc offshore trips with opportunities later to be stationed abroad. There may be some flexibility in salary with relevant experience within the Oil & Gas sector.

BD/Sales Technical Assistant – North Scotland
