As Quality Director you will have responsibility for the development of the site quality strategy and compliance with the site Quality Management System. You will liaise with the MHRA to maintain IMP MA, develop and manage the site validation master plan and manage the Quality Department, comprising QA, QC, analytical and microbiology.
The ideal candidate for this Director of Quality position will be fully qualified and accredited as a QP eligible for permanent provision in a steriles IMP MA, with considerable experience in a senior QA role within the pharmaceutical industry. Prior experience in sterile products manufacture is also essential.

As reported in the Telegraph, Shell, a global group of energy and petrochemicals companies, are now planning to cut another 1,000 oil jobs on top of the 5,000 job losses already announced.
Tuesday saw the announcement that the oil company’s full year results indicating their performance was worse than their rival BP’s, sparking plans to embark on $1bn programme of further costs cuts on top of the $2bn identified last year. The company is also planning to sell around 15pc of its refineries which convert crude oil into petroleum products.
Refineries set to be closed include:
Shell’s last UK refinery and producer of 15pc of the country’s pertrol – Stanlow, Cheshire.
Montreal refineries.
German refineries.

Costa Rica
Panama
Sweden

Liaising with the Data Manager, ensure the effective management, analysis, control and security of all data generated by or received by the laboratory.
The ideal candidate for this Senior Assay Scientist role will be educated to MSc, or equivalent, in the pharmaceutical, biomedical or life science sectors. Postgraduate bioanalytical and scientific laboratory experience is also desirable, preferably gained within a pharmaceutical, diagnostics or public sector laboratory environment. In addition, a strong track record of achievement in the development of new bioanalytical assays from first principles to implementation within a clinical trial or routine healthcare testing environment is also desirable.

Our client, a Manufacturing Laboratory dealing with blood and blood components are currently looking for a Manufacturing Shift Supervisor to join their team based in North London on a 6 month contract basis.
Working as a Manufacturing Shift Supervisor, you will supervise a team of more junior staff whilst having some hands on responsibility yourself. Some understanding of blood and blood components either from working in a blood transfusion service of hospital is essential, along with supervisory experience.

Today, AstraZeneca, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, has announced that it is planning to cut a further 8,000 jobs across its global operations over the next four years as its targets cost savings of around $1.8 billion.
Having already cut about 12,600 jobs, further job cuts will be made in functions such as sales and marketing, business infrastructure, research and development, and the supply chain.

Thirty new laboratories and offices for 300 research scientists are to be built in Norfolk with a £5m investment fund.
The fund of £5m has been provided by the following companies:
Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) will provide £500,000
The East of England Development Agency £1.4m
Greater Norwich Development Partnership £1m
The University of East Anglia £500,000
The remainder will come from other Norwich Research Park partners
The aim of the scheme is to attract new science companies to the area and is the first stage of a plan to create 5,000 jobs in research by 2021. The new development is on land donated by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) at Norwich Research Park. There will also be space for new start-ups and for existing firms to expand.
The science facilities are due to open in the summer and will be managed by a new joint venture company Colney Innovations Limited. David Parfrey, BBSRC Director of Finance and Director of Colney Innovations Limited, said: “Within one kilometre of this facility, there are no fewer than 2,700 research scientists focussed on health, food and environmental sciences – a unique resource in this country. By 2021, we plan to create the facilities for 5,000 new science-related jobs on Norwich Research Park which will make Norfolk one of the world’s largest single-site scientific research centres.”
