Shift Analyst – Teesside

Heather Deagle at CK Science is recruiting for a Shift Analyst based in Teesside to work on initially a temporary basis with a very strong possibility of going permanent.

Responsibilities:

As Shift Analyst the role is to support the manufacturing function, by carrying out routine and non-routine QC analysis of raw material, in-process, pack-out and waste samples. Duties include the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation, documentation, some method development of analytical methods and general housekeeping of laboratory.

Qualifications and skills:

The suitable candidate for the role will ideally be educated in a chemistry related discipline and have demonstrable experience working in an analytical laboratory.  The main techniques used will include GC and HPLC along with a number of wet chemistry techniques.

The successful candidates will be able to work the following shift patterns:  6am-2pm (2 days), 2pm-10pm (2 days) and 4 off.

Analytical Chemist – Northern Ireland

Naynesh Mistry is looking to recruit 2 x Analytical Chemists to join an international pharmaceutical organisation to work at their site in Northern Ireland on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

The main aspects of these Analytical Chemists roles is to perform, monitor and accept accountability for all assigned analytical duties relating to specific chemistry and/or analytical projects.  The post holder will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and suitably validate analytical methods in support of API development and manufacturing.
  • Perform routine analytical testing in-line with project requirements.
  • Be trained and be fully competent in the following analytical techniques, as dictated by project and/or departmental requirements: HPLC, GC, NMR, IR, UV, MS, KF, Classical techniques
  • Perform analytical duties right-first-time in order to complete work within the budgeted resource time and in line with agreed timelines.
  • Prepare, review and approve data and documents accurately and efficiently, in-line with the Analytical Department’s procedures culture of Right-First-Time.
  • Take responsibility for the provision of all analytical activities associated with allocated projects so as to ensure successful project outcomes as measured by QQTE (Quantity, Quality, Timeliness & Efficiency) metrics.
  • Be responsible for the generation, training and adherence to of analytical documents (e.g. methods, specifications, SOPs etc).
  • Allocate work to and supervise analytical chemists/technicians/placement students.
  • Retain the overall responsibility for the completion of delegated tasks, within agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Retain an up to date knowledge of analytical techniques and equipment.
  • Be responsible for the management of own work schedule and provide regular updates to line manager and team members especially with respect to any circumstances that alter agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Ensure that unplanned deviations (UPDs) are kept to a minimum and that your line manager is notified as soon as UPDs are generated.
  • Assist with the identification of alternative test methods and/or equipment to improve efficiency and maximise throughput of testing in the laboratories.
  • Make suggestions for the improvement of efficiency and/or reduction in operating costs within the Analytical Department and the wider company.
  • Identify incidents of out of specification results and inform the Analytical Team Leader and/or Analytical Manager.
  • Assist in the generation of specifications and SOPs relevant to the Analytical Laboratories, ensuring that current versions are available.
  • Deputise for their supervisor’s absence in the day-to-day running of projects and supervision of analytical activities being performed in their designated laboratory.

Qualifications and skills:

The ideal candidates for these Analytical Chemist roles should have a degree in Life Sciences or equivalent.  It is also essential that they have:

  • Previous analytical experience within industry (i.e. pharmaceuticals/fine chemistry)
  • Experience of drug substance or drug product analysis in a GMP/GLP environment
  • Experience in HPLC method development and/or validation
  • Experience in cGMP audits and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Office, Excel etc)

Product Characterisation Manager – North West

Naynesh Mistry is looking to recruit a Product Characterisation Manager, to join a biopharmaceutical development organisation to work at their site in the North West on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose:

This Product Characterisation Manager position will provide expert technical guidance in the area of protein and carbohydrate chemistry and characterization in support of business objectives. This role will be responsible for undertaking complex analytical investigative projects and for keeping abreast of scientific developments in the protein and carbohydrate sciences area. This position will evaluate emerging technologies to drive new/improved service offerings and provide expert scientific advice to support company business. This role will require in-depth scientific understanding as well as hands-on experience regarding key analytical techniques. Those include state-of-the-art sample preparation techniques, analysis of mono-, di-, oligo-, and polysaccharides by applying techniques such as HPLC, CE, IEC, SEC as well as advanced protein characterization by applying techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, Electrophoresis and Bio-analysis. It will also include complex data/result interpretation. Materials to be analysed will include a range of in-process, bulk drug substance and formulated products.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this Product Characterisation Manager role will include:

  • Provide protein and carbohydrate sciences expert support to the Analytical Group.
  • Actively guide a portfolio of analytical techniques to ensure up to date and product tailored characterization capabilities.
  • Manage a small team of technical/scientific professionals in assigned area.
  • Ensure continuous development of technical skills and knowledge on products and processes within the Analytical team. Train/mentor junior staff.

Candidate Requirements:

The successful candidate for this Product Characterisation Manager role will have the following:

  • A science based degree BSc/MSc or PhD preferred significant work (including laboratory) experience in area of expertise.
  • Proven track record of scientific/technical achievements relevant for position. Demonstrated innovation and technical leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated team management and development skills.
  • Proven ability to solve complex analytical problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex analytical data & ability to apply scientific rationale to providing practical technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven track record of presenting research projects or other scientific data at seminars and other scientific symposia.
  • High degree of autonomy.

Also the candidate will preferably have knowledge of biopharmaceutical and bio similar manufacturing processes & technologies with an ability to apply scientific rationale to providing practical technical solutions.

Analytical Chemist Job – East London/Kent

Our Client is a Global Pharmaceutical Company currently recruiting for an Analytical Chemist for a Contract role within their QA Analytical Laboratory based in East London/Kent, UK.

Responsibilities:

Your main responsibilities will be to ensure accurate, timely and efficient analysis of materials being tested within the laboratory. Testing carried out will include wet chemical and instrumental analytical techniques, GC, HPLC, GLP and AA. Work will need to be carried out in line with the company’s policies on cGMP, Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and other specified policies. 

Your main duties will include following a test schedule to carry out analysis on materials, ensuring instrumentation and test methods are correctly maintained, preparing accurate reports of analytical results, maintaining stock levels for laboratory reagents and consumables. You will also be involved in preparing and modifying SOPs and general housekeeping and maintenance of the laboratory.

 

Person Specification:

To be considered for this role you will need to have a BSc in Chemistry or a related discipline (or equivalent). Previous experience in a QC or other analytical laboratory is essential. Knowledge and experience of major wet chemical and instrumental analytical techniques, GC and HPLC are also essential. Knowledge of pharmacopoeial testing, AA and GLP is desirable.

QC Analyst Job (Pharmaceuticals) – Essex, UK

 CK Science are currently recruiting for a QC Analyst to join a multi-skilled team providing a full range of laboratory services based in Essex, UK.

The laboratory is responsible for the sampling of raw and packaging materials, analysis of raw/packaging materials and product, sensory evaluation, research and development.

 

Responsibilities:

As a QC Analyst you will undertake the more complex and advanced analytical methodology in GC, HPLC, FTIR plus other laboratory equipment and methodology to satisfy daily work schedules. You will undertake daily sampling/analysis activities and will ensure all work is carried out to GLP. It is also envisaged that you will be able to deputise for the Laboratory Services Manager as required.

 

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate for this QC Analyst position, you will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Chemistry and will have experience of a wide range of analytical techniques including GC, HPLC and FTIR. Analytical Development Scientist Jobs – Herts/London

We are currently recruiting for Analytical Development Scientists to join a global pharma company in Hertfordshire.

Based within a Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry group, you will be responsible for executing and planning analytical programmes including the completion of analytical assignments involving formulated and unformulated pharmaceutical substances to be used in clinical and preclinical studies.

Working under the broad guidance of your supervisor (and with minimum supervision) as an Analytical Development Scientist, you will carry out assignments on raw materials, intermediates, bulk drug substances and solid dosage forms to company and regulatory authority requirements. You will also develop, validate and document new analytical methods and specifications for raw materials, active ingredients, dosage forms, bulk drug substances and degradation products.

The company is one of the major global pharmaceutical companies and as such it is essential that you hold a degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry (or equivalent) and that you have experience of working within the pharmaceutical industry. Previous pharmaceutical experience is essential and for more senior positions team leadership experience will be required.
