Assistant Engineer – Hertfordshire

Reena Dhana is currently recruiting for an Assistant Engineer to join a leading Chemical Manufacturer specialising in polymer materials including adhesives & resins for a 6 month contract to be based from their site in Hertfordshire.

Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Assisting senior engineers with the sourcing & procurement of manufacturing equipment & systems
  • Overseeing equipment transportation to their European site
  • Installation and validation as well as completion of relevant documentation.

Qualifications & Skills:

The company:

Our client is a Photonic Device Manufacturer who specialises in the development, manufacturing and supply of opto-electronic equipment including cameras, sensors and scientific instrumentation.

 

The role:

As a Technical Support Engineer you will be joining their Camera Technology division based at their site in Hertfordshire.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support to their customer teams both remotely (phone, email)
  • In-situ at the customer’s site including diagnosing & fixing minor problems
  • Management of demonstration cameras including testing prior to delivery & on return from the customers and through performing customer demonstrations when required
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of all stock (hardware & software) as well as completion of all relevant documentation.

 

The ideal candidate:

To be considered for this Technical Support Engineer position, you will have a qualification in Electrical and / or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) and demonstrated experience working with electronic equipment including the ability to diagnose faults in electronic circuitry and remove & replace components at board level. Experience of scientific imaging technologies and / or opto-electronics would be highly advantageous.

The company

Andrew’s client is a Chemical Manufacturer specialising in Catalyst applications for the Automotive industry.

Andrew is looking for  several Engineering Technicians to join the company’s Engine, Vehicle and Synthetic Departments based from their state of the art facilities in Hertfordshire.

Roles available:

Engine Test Technician – You will be involved in carrying out catalyst preparation; operation and support of engine test beds; data checks and maintenance of the engine test facility. This role is shift based, consisting of day and late shift working patterns.

Vehicle Test Technician – You will be involved in carrying out emissions testing; performing test cycle driving; data processing; catalyst changing as well as general workshop based tasks. This role is on a day shift basis.

Synthetic Test Technician – You will be involved in the operation of test rigs to ensure the performance of their catalyst and other emission control technologies. Your duties will include preparing and loading test pieces; handling of synthetic exhaust mixtures; programming and running test sequences as well as carrying out rig maintenance. This role is shift based, consisting of day and night shift working patterns.

The ideal candidates:

To be considered for these positions, you will have either a vocational qualification in a Mechanical or other Engineering discipline (or equivalent) OR demonstrated experience in a Test Laboratory / Workshop or Quality Control environment within the Automotive, Chemical or a Manufacturing based industry.

Qualified Person Job – Hertfordshire, UK

CK Science are working exclusively on an assignment for a Qualified Person to join a global Pharma company based in Hertfordshire.

The company work on discovery of new molecules both NCEs and NBEs, in the branded generics markets and they also market APIs. They employ 6000 people in over 80 countries and have twelve manufacturing facilities and five R&D centres across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Responsibilities:

This role is based in the Generics  arm of the business and you will act as a Qualified Person in accordance with EU GMP to provide final certification/release along with Quality Assurance a Regulatory support. You will perform audits of third party providers in order to ensure EU GMP standards have been achieved and will support the internal audit programme to enable permanent inspection readiness. You will also provide QP GMP declarations in support of importation activities and will be expected to maintain an up to date awareness of regulatory issues.

 

Qualifications and experience:

It is essential that you are a fully qualified QP and that you are experienced with final certification/release within the EU. Quality systems management, audit experience (internal and external) and a strong EU regulatory understanding are also essential for this role. A good knowledge of Quality Systems (compliance, CAPA, continuous improvement) and importation would be advantageous.

The ideal person will have the experience and the confidence to interact with QA and Regulatory teams and will have the strength of character to guide teams of professionals. Generics QP experience would be adistinct advantage but applications from QPs that have had exposure to a broad range of activities are welcome. 

This is a key role for the company and is a sign of their ambition for the future. The position is full time, permanent and it is envisaged that the role will be based on site.

Working alongside a team of inorganic chemists you will be involved in analysis of precious metals and advanced materials. You will use analytical techniques including ICP/OES, AAS, GFASS, XRF, Fire Assay and more.

Physicist Job – Liquid Crystal, Southampton

Our client in the world’s leading Chemical Manufacturer and they are currently looking for a Lead Physicist for a 2 year fixed contract to join their Research team based in Southampton.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting research, development and testing duties within various specialist chemical research projects to meet the project objectives.

- Working with the Liquid Crystal research team, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team including chemists and physicists to enable improved materials top be designed and synthesised.

- Designing Liquid Crystals Mixtures.

To be considered for this role you will have:

- A PhD in Physics or related discipline or equivalent.

- Previous experience with LC (Liquid Crystal) Display modes is essential.

Molecular Biologist Job – Hertfordshire, UK

My client is currently looking for a temporary Molecular Biologist based in Hertfordshire to join there metabolic Engineering team.

 

Responsibilities:

Your role as Molecular Biologist will be to provide assistance to the metabolic engineering team for the generation of renewable biofuels and chemicals. 

You will be expected to carry out genetic manipulation of microorganisms (bacteria and yeasts) for metabolic engineering and to assist in designing new metabolic pathways for target compound sand strategies to maximise carbon flux to the desired compound

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will hold a BSc in Molecular biology, Biochemistry or related discipline (or equivalent) with relevant industrial work experience. They will also have extensive experience of basic molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, protein expression etc.) and experience of genetic engineering of metabolic pathways in microorganisms. Experience of analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, GC) would be advantageous but not essential.
