Polymer Chemist – Hertfordshire or Dorset

Andrew Bolton at CK Science is currently recruiting for two Polymer Chemists to join an industry leading Chemical Manufacturer who specialises in Polymer Materials to be based from their sites in Hertfordshire or Dorset on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

As a Polymer Chemist, you will be responsible for:

  • Running research & development studies for the organisation’s ranges of adhesives, resins, paints, rubbers, coatings and other polymer materials.
  • Carrying out application testing, coupled with mechanical & physical testing.
  • Working closely with manufacturing teams during scale-up & pilot plant trials.
  • Liaising with customer teams throughout the projects.

Qualifications and skills:

The successful applicant for this polymer chemist role will have the following qualifications, skills & experience:

  • A qualification in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of polymer based materials.
  • Experience working / liaising with customer teams would be advantageous but it is not essential.

Engineering Manager (Pharmaceutical) – Hertfordshire, UK

Reena Dhana at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Engineering Manager to join a Global Pharmaceutical Organisation at their site in Hertfordshire on a full time, permanent basis

Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Manager, the main purpose of your role will be:

  • Guiding projects for Capital Investment.
  • Accountable for end to end delivery of projects from initiation through to Closure.
  • Ensuring the projects are resourced according including looking at manage risks, schedules and approved budgets to ensure successful deliveries
  • Ensuring Good Engineering Practices (GEP) are used in the design, installation and commissioning of assets
  • Undertaking Change Management, Deviation Investigations, Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) activities and root cause analysis (RCA)

Qualifications and skills:

As an Engineering Manager, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • HND in an engineering discipline (or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience in the Project Management in GMP, ideally in manufacturing and/or packaging
  • Demonstrable experience in managing projects from small scale to multi million pounds
  • Previous experience with contract and budget development, cost control, negotiation and execution
  • Proven understanding and familiarity of FDA and MHRA guidance for solid dosage form facility design and operation, cGMP and H&S regulations

Patent Specialist (Food) – Cambridgeshire

Reena Dhana at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Patent Specialist in the food area to join a world leading Medical Device & Technology Organisation at their facilities in Cambridgeshire.  This is a contract role.

Responsibilities:

As a Patent Specialist your main responsibilities will involve patent searching, patent analysis and contextualising findings.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this Patent Specialist role you hold a BSc in Food Science, Life science, Engineering or a related subject (or equivalent). You will also have:

  • Extensive experience in the food industry is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of the patent system and the ability to analyse patents in the food industry is also essential.
  • A background in industrial scale food processing technologies is essential.
  • Expertise in cereals and grain, including processing, formulating and finished products including, but not limited to breakfast cereals and grain-based snacks would be advantageous.
  • Expertise in process equipment and conditions used to manufacture completed grain-based products is also advantageous.

Senior Brand Manager (Consumer Care) – Hertfordshire

Reena Dhana at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Senior Brand Manager to join the Consumer Care division for a global pharmaceutical company based in Hertfordshire. This is a 6 month contract with a strong possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

For this Senior Brand Manager role you will be responsible for leading and co-ordinating activities relating to the companies brand portfolio. You will be involved in developing and implementing promotional and non-promotional materials and programmes, managing external agencies to deliver brand activities (advertising, media, PR and digital). You will also be proactively liaising and collaborating with various UK functions, including Sales, Medical Affairs, Finance, Supply Chain and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure optimal alignment and effective implementation of business plans.

Qualifications and skills:

To be successful for this Senior Brand Manager role you will hold a BSc in Marketing or related subject (or equivalent). To be considerd you will need to have:

  • Previous experience as a consumer marketer is essential.
  • Previous experience of managing a full Profit and Loss for significant brands is also essential.
  • Previous experience of success in implementing brand activities across a number of media channels including TV would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with PAGB code of practice is desirable.

Assistant Engineer – Hertfordshire

Our client is a Photonic Device Manufacturer who specialises in the development, manufacturing and supply of opto-electronic equipment including cameras, sensors and scientific instrumentation.

 

The role:

As a Technical Support Engineer you will be joining their Camera Technology division based at their site in Hertfordshire.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support to their customer teams both remotely (phone, email)
  • In-situ at the customer’s site including diagnosing & fixing minor problems
  • Management of demonstration cameras including testing prior to delivery & on return from the customers and through performing customer demonstrations when required
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of all stock (hardware & software) as well as completion of all relevant documentation.

 

The ideal candidate:

To be considered for this Technical Support Engineer position, you will have a qualification in Electrical and / or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) and demonstrated experience working with electronic equipment including the ability to diagnose faults in electronic circuitry and remove & replace components at board level. The company

Andrew’s client is a Chemical Manufacturer specialising in Catalyst applications for the Automotive industry.

Andrew is looking for  several Engineering Technicians to join the company’s Engine, Vehicle and Synthetic Departments based from their state of the art facilities in Hertfordshire.

Roles available:

Engine Test Technician – You will be involved in carrying out catalyst preparation; operation and support of engine test beds; data checks and maintenance of the engine test facility. This role is shift based, consisting of day and late shift working patterns.

Vehicle Test Technician – You will be involved in carrying out emissions testing; performing test cycle driving; data processing; catalyst changing as well as general workshop based tasks. This role is on a day shift basis.

Synthetic Test Technician – You will be involved in the operation of test rigs to ensure the performance of their catalyst and other emission control technologies. Your duties will include preparing and loading test pieces; handling of synthetic exhaust mixtures; programming and running test sequences as well as carrying out rig maintenance. This role is shift based, consisting of day and night shift working patterns.

The ideal candidates:

To be considered for these positions, you will have either a vocational qualification in a Mechanical or other Engineering discipline (or equivalent) OR demonstrated experience in a Test Laboratory / Workshop or Quality Control environment within the Automotive, Chemical or a Manufacturing based industry.

Qualified Person Job – Hertfordshire, UK

CK Science are working exclusively on an assignment for a Qualified Person to join a global Pharma company based in Hertfordshire.

The company work on discovery of new molecules both NCEs and NBEs, in the branded generics markets and they also market APIs. They employ 6000 people in over 80 countries and have twelve manufacturing facilities and five R&D centres across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. They are currently selling products in over 70 countries and are one of the most exciting and expanding pharma companies in the world today.

Responsibilities:

This role is based in the Generics  arm of the business and you will act as a Qualified Person in accordance with EU GMP to provide final certification/release along with Quality Assurance a Regulatory support. You will perform audits of third party providers in order to ensure EU GMP standards have been achieved and will support the internal audit programme to enable permanent inspection readiness. You will also provide QP GMP declarations in support of importation activities and will be expected to maintain an up to date awareness of regulatory issues.

 

Qualifications and experience:

It is essential that you are a fully qualified QP and that you are experienced with final certification/release within the EU. Quality systems management, audit experience (internal and external) and a strong EU regulatory understanding are also essential for this role. A good knowledge of Quality Systems (compliance, CAPA, continuous improvement) and importation would be advantageous.

The ideal person will have the experience and the confidence to interact with QA and Regulatory teams and will have the strength of character to guide teams of professionals. Generics QP experience would be adistinct advantage but applications from QPs that have had exposure to a broad range of activities are welcome. 

This is a key role for the company and is a sign of their ambition for the future. The position is full time, permanent and it is envisaged that the role will be based on site.
