Microbiology Manager (Food Manufacturing) – Oxford

Andrew Bolton at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Microbiology Manager to join a global Packaging Manufacturer at their state-of-the-art facilities in Oxfordshire on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibility:

As a Microbiology Manager, you will have overall responsibility for Microbiology expertise & activities on site including:

  • Providing microbiology support & expertise to development projects & manufacturing on-site in the areas of food manufacturing & processing (in particular heat processed food).
  • Leading a team of Microbiologists on site.
  • Managing & carrying out product monitoring & hygiene audits internally & at customer sites.
  • Providing technical advice to customer teams.

Qualification and Skills:

As a Microbiology Manager you will have a qualification in Microbiology or a related discipline (or equivalent) and knowledge of some or all of the following:

  • Heat-preserved foodstuffs and beverages
  • Heat-processing and pasteurisation of foods and beverages.
  • Spoilage mechanisms of processed foods and beverages.
  • Recovery, isolation and identification of spoilage microorganisms to genus/species level.
  • Hygiene of food and beverage packing processes.
  • Hygienic manufacture of packaging and validation of in-plant controls.
  • Aseptic filling and sealing
  • Microbial resistance to heat-processing and chemical sterilisation techniques.
  • Alternative non-thermal processes.
  • Packaging decontamination mechanisms.
  • Challenge testing of packaging seals, filling processes, sterilisation and decontamination.

Shift Manager Jobs – Central Belt of Scotland

Patent Specialist (Food) – Cambridgeshire

Reena Dhana at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Patent Specialist in the food area to join a world leading Medical Device & Technology Organisation at their facilities in Cambridgeshire.  This is a contract role.

Responsibilities:

As a Patent Specialist your main responsibilities will involve patent searching, patent analysis and contextualising findings.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this Patent Specialist role you hold a BSc in Food Science, Life science, Engineering or a related subject (or equivalent). You will also have:

  • Extensive experience in the food industry is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of the patent system and the ability to analyse patents in the food industry is also essential.
  • A background in industrial scale food processing technologies is essential.
  • Expertise in cereals and grain, including processing, formulating and finished products including, but not limited to breakfast cereals and grain-based snacks would be advantageous.
  • Expertise in process equipment and conditions used to manufacture completed grain-based products is also advantageous.

Working as a Regulatory Affairs Manager you will be responsible for the management of the Regulatory Affairs department, including liaising with colleagues to gather information needed for any task across principally product formulations, finished product specifications and raw materials for new and reformulated products. You will also be responsible for maintaining high level of awareness of UK and European Regulatory issues and industry standards for nutritional food supplements and herbal medicines.

To be considered for this Regulatory Affairs Manager role you will have a degree in a relevant scientific discipline (or equivalent) and proven practical experience within a Regulatory Affairs function in the food supplement or pharmaceutical industries. Previous experience in the food supplement industry or knowledge of the new herbal regulations would be advantageous, but it is not essential.

Senior Analyst Job (Food Industry) – North East England

Working closely with the Quality Manager and QA team, As Senior Analyst you will be responsible for maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment, manage the day to day running of the laboratory, train QA assistants to in house methods and system, provide laboratory support for new project work and co-ordinate external laboratory audits.

The ideal candidate for this Senior Analyst position will be qualified in a scientific subject or possess equivalent industrial experience. You must also have a proven track record in food chemistry analysis and supervisory roles.
