Food Scientific Advisor Job Description:

As Food Scientific Advisor, you will be responsible for leading scientific work to support a Food-borne Disease Strategy, in particular Campylobacter and VTEC.  This will involve taking a lead role in reducing Campylobacter in chicken and helping to develop future priorities and work programmes.  In addition, you will provide scientific advice on food-borne disease to colleagues, funding bodies, members of the public and stakeholders.

The role:

As Food Scientist, you will be actively involved in product development from concept generation to product launch and will be interfacing closely with functions at all stages of the process.  This will include using your product development knowledge to develop formulae and processes to regulatory standards and food safety compliance, assist in troubleshooting, liaise with customers and clients and co-ordinate technical teams.  You will also perform benchmarking studies, identify further business opportunities and add value to the business.

Further responsibilities of this Food Hygiene Team Leader role will include:

• Maintaining and updating the sites hygiene standards.
• Carrying out GMP audits.
• Assisting in the preparation for BRC audits.
• Carrying out food safety training and managing a team.
• Involvement in customer complaints  investigation to prevent re-occurrence.
