Sales Administration Leader Job (Metallurgy) – South Yorkshire, UK

Our client is a metallurgical testing facility based in the South Yorkshire region and are currently looking for a Sales Administration Leader to come in for a 12 month contract with a view to being made permanent.

The role will involve improving the total gross margin on ‘external analytical services – EAS’ sales as well as managing the sales administration requirements of the EAS business

 

Duties:

  • Contribute to achieving the financial goals of the company
  • Maintain the excellent reputation of the company’s analytical services for current and future customers
  • Assist in identifying and gaining new external business
  • Liaise with external customers to develop and maintain effective customer services
  • As required; represent the company in support of the laboratory business team
  • To directly manage sales administration staff to move the business forward proactively

 

Standards of Performance:

  • To achieve the business plan
  • Provide quotations for analytical testing and technical support to external customers
  • Identify need for business action arising from sales issues
  • Produce informative/statistical visit reports that incorporate customer satisfaction
  • Assess and review pricing and turnaround policies
  • Efficient, timely and accurate processing of departmental administration
  • Create an effective sales administration team

 

Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Experience in a sales environment
  • Degree in  Science and/or Engineering
  • Ability to respond and co-ordinate activities arising from circa 1000 tests per week
  • Ability to maintain customer satisfaction to a high level
  • Experience in people management
  • Good communication and negotiating skills
  • Organisational, Planning, teamworking and IT skills
  • Outgoing personality
  • Willing to travel, predominantly in UK

Analytical Development Scientist Jobs – Herts/London

We are currently recruiting for Analytical Development Scientists to join a global pharma company in Hertfordshire.

Based within a Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry group, you will be responsible for executing and planning analytical programmes including the completion of analytical assignments involving formulated and unformulated pharmaceutical substances to be used in clinical and preclinical studies.

Working under the broad guidance of your supervisor (and with minimum supervision) as an Analytical Development Scientist, you will carry out assignments on raw materials, intermediates, bulk drug substances and solid dosage forms to company and regulatory authority requirements. You will also develop, validate and document new analytical methods and specifications for raw materials, active ingredients, dosage forms, bulk drug substances and degradation products.

The company is one of the major global pharmaceutical companies and as such it is essential that you hold a degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry (or equivalent) and that you have experience of working within the pharmaceutical industry. Previous pharmaceutical experience is essential and for more senior positions team leadership experience will be required.

Development Scientist Job (Temporary Contract) – North West, UK

Our client, a manufacturer of colours and additives for the polymers and plastics industry, is currently looking to recruit a Development Scientist to work at their site based in the North West of England.


Responsibilities:

This Development Scientist role will involve the development of additives and colours in the manufacture of polymers such as PET and PVC. The position is a temporary role until the end of the year, but you will be invited to apply for a similar permanent position that is due to arise in the new year.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate for this Development Scientist position will have experience in polymer development from an industrial background, rather than an academic background. You will be immediately available for work and reside in the North West/Merseyside region, as this role could last only 2-3 months. Gilead Sciences to Purchase CGI Pharmaceuticals

space4work2Gilead Sciences, the research-based biopharmaceuticals company is to purchase the privately-held healthcare firm, CGI Pharmaceuticals.

CGI Pharmaceuticals, who specialise in small molecule chemistry and kinase biology, have developed a range of small molecule kinase inhibitors. The inhibitors are believed to have the potential to treat conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.

The takeover, which is said to be completely in the third quarter of 2010, will cost Gilead Sciences a total of £79.7m.

Speaking of the acquisition, Gilead’s executive vice-president of R&D and CEO stated, “The acquisition of CGI represents a unique opportunity to expand our research efforts in an interesting and promising area of drug discovery.”

Operations Chemist – Sheffield, UK

A Operations Chemist is required to join one of the UK’s most successful waste management companies based in Sheffield, UK.

As an Operations Chemist, you will be responsible for the safe receipt and identification of waste brought to site. This involves examination and analysis of packaged chemicals, in drums and boxes to ensure that they correspond to the description given by customers. Bulk liquid wastes are also received, which must also be sampled and analysed before discharging into tanks. Paperwork systems must be followed and maintained to ensure accurate tracking of the wastes.

Following full training, as Operations Chemist you will be required to drive several items of mobile plant including forklift trucks. Prior experience of driving such equipment would be an advantage.

The hours of working are 45 hours per week, consisting of five nine-hour shifts between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs, depending on shift pattern.

The ideal candidate for this Operations Chemist job must be willing to work in the open air in all weather conditions testing packaged and bulk chemical wastes. This can often be a dirty and uncomfortable task. This Operations Chemist also job involves a certain amount of manual handling although mechanical assistance is provided for most tasks. There may also be offsite visits to customer premises or to collect wastes.

A Materials Scientist is required to join an industry expert in providing consultancy surrounding materials research for the Oil & Gas industry. As Materials Scientist you will join the company’s project research team based at their Testing and Development facilities in Hertfordshire, UK.

Working as part of project based research teams, as a Materials Scientist you will be involved in the testing of polymer based materials (rubber, plastic, elastomer etc.) including exploring the effects of mechanical, environmental and chemical conditions/substances on the materials. As you will be working with a consultancy organization, as a Materials Scientist you will be required to work closely with clients regarding results and findings.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work with the industry leading consultancy specialising in materials based industries including Oil & Gas, Aerospace and Transport Technology.

To be considered for this Materials Scientist role, you will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • A BSc, PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry or a related Scientific or Engineering discipline (or equivalent)
  • Proven practical experience of testing polymer-based materials (rubber, plastic, elastomer) gained within the materials, chemical or a related industry.
