Laboratory Analyst – County Durham

Graeme Pallas at CK Science is recruiting for a Laboratory Analyst to join a blue chip pharmaceutical company at their site in Barnard Castle, County Durham on a contract until the end of the year. 

Responsibillities:

 As a Laboratory Analyst you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out analysis on pharmaceutical products and raw materials by HPLC, UV and Dissolution techniques
  • Follow SOPs in strict compliance to cGMP
  • Perform general laboratory maintenance duties

Qualifications: 

As a Laboratory Analyst you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Degree in chemistry or related subject
  • Analytical experience in a commercial laboratory

The successful Laboratory Analyst will be joining a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry at their site in Barnard Castle.  This is initially a contract until the end of 2013, however, there is a strong likelihood this will be extended.

Analytical Chemist – Aberdeen

Barney Smith is recruiting for an Analytical Chemist to join a company who are global players in the Oil & Gas industry in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:

The Analytical Chemist role will involve analysis of oil, diesel and drilling fluids using mainly GC although there will be opportunities for working with other instrumentation as and when required.

Qualifications:

Shift Chemist – Teesside

Project Chemist Job in Scotland

Within this customer facing role, you will be involved in both laboratory work and also ad hoc offshore sampling and chemistry. As Project Chemist you will be required to work under your own initiative without support, and often in challenging circumstances.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

As Project Chemist you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Polymer Chemist – Hertfordshire or Dorset

Andrew Bolton at CK Science is currently recruiting for two Polymer Chemists to join an industry leading Chemical Manufacturer who specialises in Polymer Materials to be based from their sites in Hertfordshire or Dorset on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

As a Polymer Chemist, you will be responsible for:

  • Running research & development studies for the organisation’s ranges of adhesives, resins, paints, rubbers, coatings and other polymer materials.
  • Carrying out application testing, coupled with mechanical & physical testing.
  • Working closely with manufacturing teams during scale-up & pilot plant trials.
  • Liaising with customer teams throughout the projects.

Qualifications and skills:

The successful applicant for this polymer chemist role will have the following qualifications, skills & experience:

  • A qualification in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of polymer based materials.
  • Experience working / liaising with customer teams would be advantageous but it is not essential.

Chemists (Shift and Day Positions) – North East

Barney Smith at CK Science is recruiting for a number of Chemists to join a company that provides analytical services to the Oil & Gas and Chemicals sector at their site in the North East

The job:

The company have openings for a number of chemists at different levels to work either on days or on shifts in analysing bitumen, oil and petrochemicals.

As a Chemist you will be required to collect samples from external sources which will involve climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.  It is a high throughput environment with quick turnaround times and the analysis will involve GC, AA,IR, UV and Karl Fischer.

Qualifications and skills:

The successful applicant for these Chemist roles will receive full training but must have at the very minimum a basic level of understanding of chemistry and ideally commercial lab experience.  The ideal candidates will be able to drive, be happy working unsociable hours and be able to work at heights and in confined spaces. Technical Specialist (Analytical Chemist) – North East England

Alliance Boots report bumper Christmas profits

As reported by The Guardian, Alliance Boots, the chemist chain have reported bumper Christmas profits.

In particular their Pharmaceutical wholesale division saw a surge in revenue on 21.3 per cent, or 1.6 per cent on a like for like basis. This division supplied medicines to more than 160,000 pharmacies, doctors, health centres and hospitals to 21 countries.

It is thought that the Chemist’s strong results have been down to variety of factors, including:

  • Their exclusive offering
  • International expansion
  • Their acquisition of German pharmaceutical giant Anzag

Research & Development Chemist – Northants

Jason Johal is currently handling an exceptional role for a R&D Chemist to join a chemical manufacturing company based in Northants. This R&D Chemist role is a pivotal role within the company which, not only is a key role for the company but could be the opportunity of a lifetime for the successful incumbent.

The job and responsibilities:

The company which requires a R&D Chemist manufactures a niche product and currently produce over 120 million units per year which, they then supply worldwide. Due to pending legislation they are looking in to changing their product to meet the incoming requirements and as such need a R&D chemist to develop a small scale run through pilot and then transfer into manufacture.

This R & D Chemist role is a brand new role that will be created around the successful applicant and as such we have a completely blank sheet to work with in regards to knowledge and experience. As this is such a key role for the company to move forwards all approval has already been given to custom build a new laboratory and to provide all necessary equipment and support.

Skills required: 

To be considered for this R&D Chemist role it is essential that you have gained experience in a R&D environment and that you have the ability to drive a research project forward. A polymer related development background could be advantageous in this role and there is a preference for someone with knowledge/experience in biodegradable products.
