The job:
The company have openings for a number of chemists at different levels to work either on days or on shifts in analysing bitumen, oil and petrochemicals.
As a Chemist you will be required to collect samples from external sources which will involve climbing ladders and working in confined spaces. It is a high throughput environment with quick turnaround times and the analysis will involve GC, AA,IR, UV and Karl Fischer.
Qualifications and skills:
The successful applicant for these Chemist roles will receive full training but must have at the very minimum a basic level of understanding of chemistry and ideally commercial lab experience. The ideal candidates will be able to drive, be happy working unsociable hours and be able to work at heights and in confined spaces. Heather Deagle at CK Science is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join a large company at one of their sites in the Central Belt of Scotland.
The Job:
This Laboratory Technician job is an excellent opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge as well as gain experience in the laboratory environment. This is a temporary role initially for 9-10 months and you will be responsible for conducting routine and non-routine sampling and testing such as XRF to BS standards. The successful individual would have to work shifts and, if required, change shifts in order to provide cover.
Qualifications and skills:
The successful candidate for this Laboratory Technician role will have a good standard of written and numerical literacy with a minimum of 2 A Levels (including Chemistry) or similar. It would be desirable to have proven experience in sampling, physical testing, chemical analysis, calibration of laboratory equipment and general housekeeping of a laboratory.

As Process Improvement Technician the successful candidate will report to the Quality Manager. You will be responsible for:
Ensuring all relevant manufacturing process data is gathered, collated and displayed,
Undertaking project work to improve quality and manufacturing yield
Maintaining specifications and documentation for the production unit
Provide technical support to the day-to-day manufacturing operation.
Qualification and skills required:
The ideal candidate for this Process Improvement Technician role must be qualified to minimum HNC/HND in a mechanical engineering related discipline or possess equivalent industrial experience and ideally be a six sigma green belt or equivalent.

As an Analytical Chemist, you will be responsible for supporting the R&D Teams through carrying out testing & characterisation of the organisation’s catalyst products & materials, using a routine powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) system and a specialist XRD system coupled with an advanced variable temperature in-situ reaction cell.
