Project Engineer Job (Mechanical, Medical Devices) – Cambridgeshire, UK

CK Science is currently helping a world leading Medical Device Consultancy to recruit a Project Engineer to join their state-of-the-art facilities in Cambridgeshire. This fantastic company develops a range of technologies for their customers in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Medical Devices industries.

Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer, your main responsibilities will include leading multi-disciplinary teams on projects within the drug delivery, diagnostic and other medical technology applications. Further duties of this role will include:

  • Working closely with customers to identify and design technical product or system solutions and in turn producing proposals to meet their requirements
  • Leading design engineering including hands on use of 3D CAD to produce designs of components, systems or products
  • Working closely with 3rd party suppliers for transfer of project to manufacture as well as managing technical documentation relating to the project.

 

Person specification:

To be considered for this Project Engineer role, you will have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Degree / MSc / PhD in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience of both project management and hands on engineering for technology applications including knowledge of manufacturing processes (one off design or volume)
  • Experience using 3D CAD (pref. Pro-E or Solid Works)
  • Specific experience in the medical device industry would be advantageous but it is not essential.

Senior Chemist Job (Biosensor, Medical Device) – Cambridgeshire, UK

Our client, an industry leading Medical Device Diagnostic organisation, are currently looking for a Senior Chemist to join their Research & Development Team based from their site in Cambridgeshire.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Chemist, you will be responsible for project management of a multi-disciplinary project team involved in research into novel glucose biosensor technology for use in various diagnostic and point-of-care diagnostic applications.

Your duties will be split between people management of a team of Scientists & Engineers and hands on aspects including conceptualisation & design of the optical grating based sensors; conducting studies to devise methods of manufacture at lab scale as well as development of prototypes and test rigs in order to carry out verification, validation and test of sensor designs and method of manufacture.

Qualifications and Experience:

One  Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for a patch covering the UK, Ireland, Germany & Austria, with the other specialist responsible for the Nordic regions.

Working as a  Technical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high quality 1st line technical support to customers over phone and email surrounding the operation & maintenance of the organisation’s range of Flow Cytometry equipment; provide training & seminars to customers during installation and during initial operation for new customers as well as providing follow up & technical support after sale. As well as these duties, you may also be required to work in the lab to troubleshoot  customer problems, propose solutions and if required work closely with development team to implement long term products changes to correct problems.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an industry leading Flow Cytometry equipment manufacturer who supply instruments to clients across the Life Science & Biotechnology industries. Due to the nature of the roles, regular travel of up to 33% of the time will be required within related patches – A full driving licence is essential.

To be considered for this Technical Support Specialist role, you will have a Degree / MSc / PhD in Immunology or a relevant Life Science discipline (or equivalent) and proven practical laboratory experience using Flow Cytometry instruments in the fields of Immunology, Cell Biology or a related field. Fluency in written & spoken English as well as either German or Swedish is essential. Knowledge of other European languages such as Dutch, French, Finnish, Italian or Spanish would be advantageous but are not essential.

Instrumentation Technician Job (Temporary) – Cambridgeshire, UK

Our Client is a leading Biotechnology company looking for a temporary Instrumentation Technician to join their team based in Cambridgeshire.

 

Responsibilities:

Your main responsibility will be evaluating the cause of instrumentation equipment breakdowns within the laboratories. As part of the role you will either perform any necessary repairs on the equipment and/or coordinate with external service providers.

 

Person Specification:

You will have a HND (or equivalent) in a relevant Scientific, Mechanical or Electrical discipline. Previous experience with fault finding, calibrating or repairing laboratory equipment such as HPLC, GC, PCR, SDS-Page, ELISA is essential.
