CMC Project Manager Job – Cambridge, UK

As CMC Project Manager you will be responsible and accountable for the planning co-ordination and management of CMC projects within “NDA”. You will be based in Cambridge, UK.

 

Responsibilities:

Further responsibilities of this CMC Project Manager job will include:

  • Organising, and co-ordinating CMC projects at NDA and to act as the main interface between the client /sponsor and the technical/laboratory staff supporting the study.
  • Continually seeking to identify opportunities for and to lead by example, improvements in quality, productivity, new techniques and automation, where applicable and to participate in business reviews, identifying areas of service development, particularly with respect to project and programme management.

In addition as CMC Project Manager you will be the key interface between NDA and the client/third party suppliers/manufacturers delivering a comprehensive service to customers on scientific and GMP matters.

 

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of CMC requirements with either a Quality Control or Manufacturing background. They will have extensive knowledge of CMC stability studies/ drug development process and demonstrated knowledge of GMP. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential as is Experience in CMC development for biologics gained in either a CRO, manufacturer or scientific project planning role. Demonstrated experience in working with colleagues in a matrix environment is also required.

Protein Scientist Job – Cambridge, UK

A Protein Scientist is required to join a biotechnology company based in Cambridge, UK.

As Protein Scientist you will play an important role in supporting the different activities around rapid expression and scale-up of IgG using in-house protein expression technologies.

The Successful candidate for this Protein Scientist position will have a Degree in Life Sciences, (or equivalent experience) or a PhD (or equivalent) in Life Sciences would be desirable.

The key technical skills and competencies required for this Protein Scientist role include extensive experience in protein expression from eukaryotic cells in industrial environment and practical laboratory-based experience in cell culture. It is required you have experience in molecular biology.

You will be enthusiastic, flexible and willing to learn, as well as proactive with a high level of attention to detail. This is a contract position for 4 months and is a great opportunity to gain experience of working within a modern company in the Cambridge region.

Chemist Job (Temporary) – Cambridge, UK

A Chemist is required to join a biotechnology company based in Cambridge, UK.

The Chemist role will be supporting the in-house peptide chemistry team and you will perform practical synthetic chemistry for the development of novel peptide therapeutics.

The responsibilities of this Chemist position will include synthesising peptides for screening and characterisation in projects, performing characterisation of, and experimental procedures with, these synthetic peptides and interpret data and record experiments.

The ideal candidate for this Chemist job you will possess BSc (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a closely related subject and have experience in peptide chemistry laboratory work. It is essential you have experience of HPLC purification of peptides.

Printing Firm to Create 500 Jobs in Cambridge

Xaar, the printing technology company will be creating 50 new jobs over the next 12 months. The expansion comes after their latest product, Platform 3, became a bestseller.

The printing company has their headquarters on Cambridge Science Park. The jobs will be located at the factory in Huntingdon.

Platform 3 applies digital printing methods to ceramic tiles, and has taken off big time, particularly in Italy and Spain. Speaking of the products success chief executive Ian Dinwoodie stated: “Although, if you had told me a year ago this would be the market I would not have believed it. I thought it would the US.”

Xaar issues half year results in June and is currently investing £5m a year in further capacity.

Pharmaceutical Jobs at Risk in Nottingham

joblossesAs reported by the BBC News, the pharmaceutical company Vectura, has announced plans to close its site in Nottingham in a bid to cut costs. The plan could put many pharmaceutical jobs at risk.

Vectura has stated that the closure of their Ruddington Laboratories, which employ approximately 100 people could lead to a cost saving of £6 million in the next financial year.

Dr Chris Blackwell, Chief Executive of Vectura, said: “In a more cautious environment both in the sector and the economy, we believe it prudent to reduce the risk profile of Vectura while preserving the upside.

“We are accelerating our timelines to profitability and sustainable cash generation by refocusing and restructuring our R&D operations.

“This means reducing our cost base and focusing on nearer-term projects.

“The steps taken will help secure the best long-term future for Vectura.”

Vectura specialises in manufacturing inhaled medicines for the treatment of respiratory diseases. They have sites based in Witlshire and Cambridge.

Automation Scientist – R&D, Cambridgeshire, UK

A biotechnology company is currently looking for an Automation Scientist to join their team based in Cambridgeshire, UK.

 

 

 

As an Automation Scientist, you will be working with scientists in Research and Development where you will help evaluate current laboratory practices and help devise methods of automating practical work so that they can be performed in a more streamlined and efficient.

Working as an Automation Scientist, you will help install, test and validate new laboratory automation to ensure that it is fit for purpose and will help support and modify existing laboratory automation to ensure that it operates to a high standard and evolves to meet the changing needs of scientists.

This Automation Scientist role will also require you to help train and advise users on the optimal use of laboratory automation. Communication and collaboration with others forms a major part of this role. As part of the Automation team you will work at the bench to test laboratory automation and validate that the automation performs to the required standard and delivers benefits to the scientists.

The ideal candidate for this Automation Scientist job will have a degree or HNC/D in Life Sciences, Computing or near equivalent. You will also need laboratory skills in microbiology, molecular biology or assay work to work with scientists performing diverse laboratory processes before and after automation.

This Automation Scientist also demands a candidate with experience in inautomated liquid handlers, plate readers, automation software and equipment (Tecan, PerkinElmer, Biotek, Genetix and Velocity 11). Familiarity with additional automation platforms is also a plus.
