Liverpool Science Park Receives a Boost in Biomed

21.08.2012 by Cgutsell

The £25 million North West Fund for Biomedical has secured eight desks for start up businesses in the Liverpool Science Park, reports placenorthwest.co.uk.

20 investments have so far been made in innovative bioscience companies who are attempting to get products to market. 40% of the £25 million investment has to be put into Merseyside due to pre-existing agreements. Spark Impact, who manage the investment, will look to help benefit the new companies moving into the Science Park.

Dr Penny Attridge, the senior investment director at Spark, believes that the companies are given an “excellent position to grow their businesses” in an environment where many other biomed companies are located. The life sciences sector, which already employs 4,000 people within Liverpool, is only expected to grow with this further investment.
