CV advice for science students in the North East

Last week CK Science’s Barney Smith took part in a CV writing training seminar with first year Biopharmaceutical Science students at Sunderland University.

Focussing on ‘how to write a basic CV’, Barney provided the students with a variety of tips and advice including:

  • how to lay out a CV
  • common mistakes they need to avoid
  • how to tailor their CV to the job
  • how to make their CV stand out

With the students due to commence a placement year in the 2nd year of their course, this practical session intended to help them prepare their applications.

Barney has worked for CK Science as a recruitment consultant for over 10 years.  He is the manager of the North East based science recruitment team and recruits in Scotland for all science based positions. As part of his ongoing commitment to developing the area, Barney regularly provides support to students by delivering tailored training to help them prepare for their first science job.
