Jason at CK Science is currently recruiting exclusively for a Head of Synthetic & Analytical Chemistry to join a Biopharmaceutical company based in London on a full time permanent basis.

Head of Synthetic and Analytical Chemistry Job Description:

Leading a Synthetic & Analytical Chemistry team, we require someone with a strong commercial focus but also someone who is happy being “hands on” at the bench.

As the Head of Synthetic & Analytical Chemistry you will:

  • Be an experienced laboratory scientist
  • Expected to ensure that the company and its collaborators have a supply of appropriate synthetic reagents using both in-house and outsourced production
  • Provide scientific leadership and creativity when initiating, designing, and executing projects to prepare new reagents
  • Ensure that suitable analytical support for the company’s activities is provided both in-house and externally using techniques such as mass spectroscopy, NMR and HPLC.

The successful Head of Synthetic & Analytical Chemistry will have the following qualifications, skills & experiences:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Synthetic Organic Chemistry/Chemistry
  • Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and analytical chemistry (industrial experience is essential)
  • Development experience from Proof of Concept through to Pre-Clinical Development
  • Comfortable working at the bench
  • Experience of managing a diverse team of laboratory staff
  • Experience of Project Manager including outsourced work
  • Experience in preparing reagents quickly (Contract Manufacturing experience would  be an ideal)
  • An understanding Proteins/Bioconjugation would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with the design and derivatisation of biomedical polymers would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Cytotoxins would be advantageous

In Vitro Electrophysiologist – Hertfordshire

Reena Dhana at CK Science is currently searching for In Vitro Electrophysiologist to join a global Pharmaceutical Company based in Hertfordshire. This is a 12 month contract.

Responsibilities:

For this In Vitro Electrophysiologist role you will be involved in native tissue preparation. Knowledge and experience of carrying out extracellular electrophysiological recordings would also be advantageous. 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this In Vitro Electrophysiologist role will have a BSc in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Pharmacology or a related subject (or equivalent) with previous laboratory experience. Also previous experience of drug discovery process within the pharmaceutical sector would be advantageous.

Senior Medical Device Technologist Job

We are currently searching for a Senior Medical Device Technologist to join a global Medical Device company based in Oxfordshire, UK.

Responsibilities:

As Senior Medical Device Technologist your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support to the NPI (New Product Introduction) for the diabetes strip-manufacturing unit and supporting the unit to maintain production output and yields.
  • Ensuring the analysis and interpretation of measurements in process and release test data, identify potential areas of inefficiency to drive continuous process, product, cost and quality improvements in the manufacturing unit.
  • You will also ensure all work carried out in compliance with the correct processes and procedures and take ownership ofassigned ER’s CAPA’s and VMP activities.

 

Requirements:

For this role you will be degree qualified in a scientific/engineering discipline (or equivalent) with previous experience in Validation.

Previous knowledge of relevant processes, test methods, analytical techniques, experimental design, data analysis and statistical process control would be advantageous. You will have a good understanding of cGMP in Design Control and Validation.

Understanding the principles behind Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies is essential and have excellent communication and IT skills. Previous experience in a highly regulated industry would be advantageous.

Technical Manager Job – North West England

Our client provides measurement and analytical services for the Oil & Gas industry. They are looking for a Technical Manager to set the strategic direction and provide technical leadership for all UK OGC sites.

Responsibilities:

Protein Engineer Job (Protein Engineering and Display Technologies) – Cambridge, UK

We are currently recruiting for a Protein Engineer to join an established biotechnology company located on in Cambridgeshire that has developed a cutting edge in vitro display technology, CIS display, which it uses to discover biologically active peptides, proteins and antibodies.

Responsibilities will include protein library design and construction, library selection and screening, lead characterization using various molecular and biochemical methods.

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this Protein Engineer job will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry or related discipline, with experience gained in pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

The successful candidate should have expertise in protein engineering and Phage Display. Significant working experience is required in DNA manipulation techniques, library design & construction, as well as selection (in vitro display technology). Experience in antibody engineering, nextgeneration sequencing, high-throughput screening and bioinformatics (sequences alignment, structure prediction, docking) is desired:

Quality Engineering Manager Job

CK Science are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineering Manager to join a Medical Device company with sites in the south of the UK, to provide device Quality representation on development projects/programmes to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards.

As Quality Engineering Manager, you will also be expected to provide the Quality function in the review of device related documentation and other quality system related activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating proposed new suppliers (by audit) for use with device programmes.
  • Providing guidance, support and information to project colleagues on device quality issues.
  • Logging and co-ordinating responses to customer complaints.
  • Working with existing suppliers to ensure project quality goals are met. 
  • Ensuring the timely audit of current device approved supplier list.
  • Providing Device Quality representation during customer/regulatory body visits/audits.
  • Managing device Quality activities of the Quality Scientist.
  • Reviewing device supplier devices and device component BMR’s for use in Clinical Trials.
  • Ensuring client Quality activities are managed and met appropriately.

 

As Quality Engineering Manager, you will also be responsible for proposing what decisions should be made within the section and what needs to be referred. You will be able to make decisions within your own function, under pressure including unpopular decisions and will be able to prioritise your own and others activities to achieve deadlines.

The role will be 80% office based and 20% Inter-site based so travel between sites will be required

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will hold a degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate Science or Engineering discipline and will have worked for Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device companies or a similarly regulated Engineering company. It is essential that they have substantial experience gained from previous roles, one of which should have been in a Medical Devices role.

The ideal candidate will be proactive in providing innovative solutions and evaluating alternatives, will be able to apply a systematic/logical approach taking in to account information from a variety of sources and will be able to deal with complex problems. Quality Management experience is essential and it will be expected that you will be the “expert” others will go to.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be presenting complex information and concepts in a way that is simple and easy to understand and you will also promote new strategies and ensure practical policies, procedures and business direction are implemented.
