Medical Information Executive based in London, UK

My client, a dynamic pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation based in London, is currently looking for a Medical Information Executive. The purpose of this Medical Information role is to provide medical information and pharmaceutical knowledge on the company’s products, ophthalmology in general and to provide expert advice on target treatment areas. In particular, you will be expected to provide information and understanding on the pharmacology and clinical aspects of ophthalmic products.

On a day-to-day basis as a Medical Information Executive, your key responsibilities will include:

- Providing medical information support to the customer services, marketing and sales teams.

- Compiling a database of relevant clinical information on ophthalmic treatment areas.

- Developing and writing product information and literature pieces on ophthalmology and the company’s pharmaceuticals products.

- Providing input and advice on treatment trends in ophthalmology and managing clinical evaluations of company products.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Pharmacist or another relevant medical professional and will have a detailed knowledge of Ophthalmology including pharmaceutical products used in ophthalmology. Working as a Medical Information Executive, you will have a strong scientific background with an in depth pharmaceutical and clinical research knowledge. You must also be a strong presenter of technical information and be comfortable contacting and discussing with people at all levels, including senior clinicians etc. Entitlement to work in the EEA is essential.

Senior Manufacturing Scientist based in the Central Belt of Scotland

Our client, a world-class biotechnology company based in the Central Belt of Scotland, are currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Scientist to be responsible for ensuring the contract manufacture of IMP/APIs to GMP standard.As a Senior Manufacturing Scientist you will maintain GMP compliance and assist in the effective technical transfer of projects. Further responsibilities will include:

- Performing activities related to the contract manufacture of Investigational Medicinal Products

- Identifying and resolving procedural/equipment/manufacturing problems and deviations, while requiring minimal line management direction.

- Monitoring equipment to ensure continued calibration and maintenance, and that all equipment used in the manufacturing process and any new equipment is validated for its particular use.

- Liaising closely with the Director of Operations for the effective planning and technical transfer of projects from Development to GMP manufacturing according to project plans by providing specialist technical knowledge and practical expertise, ensuring all relevant documentation is in place.

The successful candidate will have a qualification in a Life Science or Biological Science discipline and/or 3-5 years relevant practical experience. It would be desirable if you have an understanding and experience of Stem Cells Culture, bacterial fermentation or mammalian bioreactor vessels. Knowledge of Mammalian Cell Culture is essential.

This role will be initially temporary for 6 months with a strong likelihood of going permanent thereafter.

The Liverpool Pancreatic Biomedical Research Unit (PBRU) is a new research unit, funded in 2008 by the NHS National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), to investigate pancreatic diseases. The PBRU is built around the world class excellence of pancreatic research in Liverpool, incorporating the strengths of the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust, the University of Liverpool and associated Industrial partners. The purpose of the PBRU is to translate basic pancreatic research into a clinical setting. Overall the research will focus on three themes: drug discovery and development of new interventions; application of new diagnostic and imaging strategies and validation of new biomarkers and screening protocols.

The PBRU has set up a Pancreas Clinical Research Facility (PCRF), which specialises in early phase clinical trials of novel diagnostic approaches and novel compounds for the treatment of pancreatic diseases. This facility is the first of its kind in the country. The PCRF is located close to the two pancreatic inpatient wards at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The state-of- art facility will monitor both inpatients and outpatients up to level 2 care. Certain studies will also involve healthy volunteers.

Apart from clinical trials managed within the PCRF, the PBRU has also adopted several other clinical trials, which are linked to our Good Clinical Laboratory Practice and Drug Discovery Laboratories. The PBRU works closely with the Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit, Liverpool Cancer Research-UK Centre and the Liverpool Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, which is part of the UK Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre Network.

We wish to appoint 3 Specialist Research Nurses, who will work within the exciting and challenging environment of the PBRU, being responsible for patient care and the management of clinical trials in the PCRF. Furthermore, the Specialist Research Nurses will assist in the execution of other clinical trials adopted by the PBRU.
