Our client, a manufacturer of polymers and composites for the aerospace and automotive industries, is currently looking to recruit a Research Chemist to define and help execute experimental tasks on several projects.
The main roles and responsibilities of this Research Chemist will be to play a key role in the R&D and supporting teams. You will analyse the results of various experiments using statistical tools and will summarise the findings in technical reports, status reports, presentations.
In order to be considered for this Research Chemist role you will be degree qualified or equivalent in material science, chemical engineering, or chemistry. You will have gained industrial experience of product development and manufacturing of polymeric materials, as well as composite materials ideally. Ideally PhD qualified, a distinct benefit would be possession of a Project Management certification as well as Six Sigma training.

Junior Risk & Safety Consultant Job in North West

Our client, an environmental and engineering consultancy based in the North West, is currently recruiting for a Junior Risk & Safety Consultant to join their team.
The main roles and responsibilities of this Junior Risk & Safety Consultant will be to provide support to various project managers working on mainly Risk and Safety Projects with the possibility to work across other areas. You will be participating in projects in the following typical areas:
- Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (Qualitative and Quantitative)
- HAZOP Consequence Analysis including modelling (Dispersion, fires, explosion, etc.)
- Reliability Assessments
- Human Factors Assessments
- Safety and Environmental Management Systems
- Preparation of documents to satisfy regulations administered by government regulators such as Environment Agency and Health and Safety Executive, including COMAH (Seveso) safety reports. You will also participate in the preparation of proposals and service development.
In order to be considered for this Junior Risk & Safety Consultant role you will have a 1st degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering, Process/ Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology or allied subject, and ideally a 2nd degree in Safety and Loss Prevention.
You will have experience in the following areas: Process engineering and technology, preferably in the oil, gas, energy and chemical industries. Understanding of process hazards. Computer modelling of fire, explosion and toxic hazards, particularly using PHAST. COMAH experience would be an advantage.

OLEDs Scientist – Organic Semiconductor Devices Job in Yorkshire

Our client, a supplier of materials for OLED optoelectronic devices, is currently looking to recruit an OLEDs Scientist to join their team based in East Yorkshire.
The company has been developing materials for use in optoelectronic devices, focusing on OLED displays and is now seeking a talented Materials Physicist / Engineer to join their team. This role will involve frequent travel to the North East and an eventual move to the North East site after approximately 1 year.
The main roles and responsibilities of this OLEDs Scientist will be to characterise and test the materials produced by the team of chemists and to provide feedback and understanding of their performance. The candidate will be responsible for, and will take a leading role in, building and testing prototype devices, developing improved characterisation and fabrication procedures as well as correlating material and device data. The successful candidate will also liaise with customers and collaborators directly.
In order to be considered for this OLEDs Scientist position you will have experience of OLED device construction and testing; an essential requirement for this role. You will also have a background in polymer / materials science, plastic electronics and practical engineering capability.
A PhD or equivalent in Physics, Materials or a related discipline would be advantageous. The candidate needs to be self-motivated and customer focused with excellent problem solving, organisational and communication skills. Key knowledge areas and abilities will be a strong working knowledge of OLED devices, physics and manufacture; experience in materials testing; a proactive approach and able to work independently; experience of designing experiments, experimental procedures and data acquisition and interpretation.

Scientist or Senior Scientist, Electrochemistry, Conduction, Dynamics. Our client, a technology manufacturer based in the North West, is recruiting for a Scientist or Senior Scientist to join their team and are currently working on an exclusive basis with CK Science for this recruitment campaign.
The main roles and responsibilities of this Scientist role will be to improve the performance their products. You will drive improvement in cell and stack and will contribute to improved scientific understanding of and intellectual property in the products.
In order to be considered for this Scientist position you will have a good degree or equivalent in Physical Science or Engineering; ideally holding a PhD or equivalent research experience. With experience of product or process development in a commercial organisation involving application of science, you will preferably hold experience in fuel cells or other electrochemical systems and will have been involved in the build of laboratory and experimental equipment. You will have the ability to grasp and apply the science relating to the company’s products such as electrochemistry, ionic conduction, electrical conduction, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, AC circuit theory and will be highly numerate (able to develop data analysis or modelling at least at the level of excel and preferably more sophisticated software, preferably with programming experience).
